This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What do you like that 'everyone' hates?

Darn straight. That's half the fun, figuring out who this sequence of numbers is!

Given how it's touted as the 'one true way to play' in several locations, I don't think it's as hated as people assume. In fact, in my anecdotal experience, it's more of a 'meh' than any hard feelings.  The conflict usually arises on whether or not you should be allowed to reroll the entire set, or pick where they go rather than assign them in order. I've seen more arguments with that one.

4d6 drop the lowest on the other hand, that one gets a higher level of rage and ridicule.  But I don't like that one either.

Just anecdotal experience.

Why? Is it the clothes, or the lack of basket hill guards that makes you hate a genre that's basically Chinese swaschbuckling:D?

In comparison to what? 3d6 in order, or point buy/ array? Because I have seen a lot of people lately say something along the lines of 'does anyone roll stats anymore?'--although, to be fair, I can't tell if they are hating or just really don't believe anyone does it these days (which is insular, but not hate).

Wuxia's alight, I guess.  I can take it or leave it.  Some of the wuxia fans, however ... :D

There was a reoccurring SNL sketch maybe 5-10 years ago about two college kids who produced a show "Jpop America Funtime Now" through their media-arts program. It is surprisingly accurate to some (and I mean some, as in a small minority) of the wuxia/manga/anime fans that I've run into in the gaming community.

Their Japanese studies professor (played by Jason Sudeikis): "If there is such a thing as a loving version of racism, I think you found it."

Ulairi

Playing a D&D-like game it should be 3D6 in order.

Point buy is saved for games like GURPS that do it much better than D&D.

I like 70s/80s fantasy art with chainmail bikinis. I think most people just pretend to be outraged by it, though.
Every time I think the Forgotten Realms can\'t be a dumber setting, I get proven to be an unimaginative idiot.

I remember that. If only there had been some jokes in it, it might've worked as a sketch. And if they booted Sudeikis.

Real men roll 3d6 in order for GURPS too.
