This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What are you Planning to run Next?

I'm starting an Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea game next week.  I've been obsessing over the 2e pdf for the past couple months, so I'm excited to start this.

It will definitely be set on Tekumel again, but not sure exactly where. I haven't run anything set in Jakalla since the mid '90s so it is a very strong possibility that's where it'll take place. I was also thinking of using the standard EPT rules, again something that I haven't done in a very long time. We'll see.

I'm going to be playtesting my module for one or two more sessions. Then I'm going to run several more sessions of the high-level adventure that we suspended so that my regulars could help in my playtest. That should get me to the holidays/new year.

Then I'm going to run an adventure set in the world of Paul Edwin Zimmer's Dark Border books. It will be largely humans-only, although there are Elves and Dwarfs elsewhere in Zimmer's world, and it has different "monsters" and other encounters but it will still be Glory Road Roleplay. My players would rather play that than the C.J. Cherryh Compact Space, no humans at all, setting that I also proposed.

Man I would love that! I ran a Compact Space-ish game to playtest my free Merchanters And Stationers RPG a while back, but since I wanted to playtest the setting creation rules, it wasn't Cherryh's setting, just one flavored much like it.

Note: This game was designed for the no-longer-available StarCluster 3 Light, but it should work OK with StarCluster 4 Free. I should fix that and make it fully SC4 compatible!!

I've got several OD&D and Classic Traveller games running, but things I'd like to run sometime:

RuneQuest
EPT
Burning Wheel
OD&D or AD&D hangouts as opposed to play by post

Other things that might tweak my interest:
Torchbearer
Talislanta (1e or 2e to play a more old school game)

Starfinder. I'm between groups (tried a few times, but scheduling, etc...) but I'm working up some outlines and a few adventures to have ready in case we get this off the ground. Plus for practice.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

My normal group is busy with school and work. So I'm thinking of playing some solo games of Mutant Chronicles, using the Mythic GM emulator to drive the "story."

I was thinking of a hard-boiled ex-Luna P.D. now Private Eye, just as the Dark Symmetry is first released.

Castle Falkenstein is what I'll be running next. Requested by a group of my players including oddly enough my most and my least kill crazed players.

There are three sandbox games I've been alternating running for my group:

OD&D Wilderlands
BoL Carpathia (Hammer-esque gaslamp pulp-horror-action)
Classic Traveller (homebrew setting that borrows liberally from New Era 1248 and Fading Suns)

Once this Carpathia arc wraps up, I'll poll the group to see if they want to go back to one of the other sandboxes or do a one-shot of something else.

I have a weird bug up my ass to run Apes Victorious, the Goblinoid Games Planet of the Apes RPG.

What is currently tempting me is

  • Runequest version 2 from the 1980s.
  • Tekueml using either Empire of the Petal Throne or RQ Tekumel.
  • OD&D in a setting that I resurrect from the 1970s (my old campaign) or 1980s (my short lived campaign) or make up anew.
  • Pendragon.
Currently running: Runequest in Glorantha + Call of Cthulhu   Currently playing: D&D 5E + RQ

I have a gold medal from Ravenswing and Gronan owes me bee

Those sound interesting. Classic Traveller sounds fun, but too mathy for 2 out of 3 of my current players, especially since I'd prefer true 3D movement.

Probably a sequel to our current D&D campaign, same home brew setting.  Though the one we are in now will go at least until next summer, and probably until this time next year.

Planning on starting a street kids campaign set in the Dresdenverse using Gurps.
