Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That's about 2.5 hours away from me with typical Florida traffic, so that's further than I would be wanting to drive (or expecting another to do so regularly).

Is Florida traffic like wildebeest trying to get across bayous filled with alligators and pythons?

I have seen alligators and, more recently, a wild boar alongside the highways in the last few years (traffic backed up on 417 and I could watch a boar zipping by faster than traffic was moving). If there are pythons there, I've missed them. However, the twisting rebuilds of Orlando exits twist enough that you can really feel like a python has you in a squeeze.

I want to go on one of those Florida megalodon-tooth hunting expeditions in the swamps. Those look so cool.

I think you're confusing Florida IRL with the Dinasaur Swamp of Rifts. I mean, we do have plenty of IRL juicers and crazies (non-MDC though), but it's not quite the same.

that's funny because I was literally thinking that. No seriously, on YouTube they have these cool videos of people Megalodon tooth hunting in/around Orlando/St. Pete.

Apparently Florida was a massive reef "back in the day" - and holy crap it's FILLED with massive sharks. Also lots of mammoth tusks, Dire Wolf teeth (they are huge) and other Ice-Age critters that came after Sharktopia.

Really cool stuff. Definitely got my Dinosaur Swamps ideas rolling, along with some other gaming ideas.

C'mon making the PC's go into swamps is *always* fun for a GM that likes hard-mode.

Orlando and St. Pete are not all that close to one another.

Well apparently those fucking sharks got around. The teeth were raining from the sky.

I surmise a LOT of people do these tooth-hunts all over the region. I got family in Tampa - so I'll do it someday.

I run a Stars Without Numbers game. We meet about once a month. I am also looking to start a second table.

I'm open to new players.

Depends on what part of Florida.

It can be literally that way, or metaphorically that way.

On occasion both.

Two hours depending on traffic and if it's Snow Bird season.

And the current construction conditions on I-4...the multiversal hell of highways.

I live in Dallas - apparently we have the 6th worst traffic in the entire US.

Now I can attest that when I drove to the office, it was 26-miles one way, during rush-hour, it would take anywhere from 1-hr to 90-minutes to get there. I've had trips that because of construction and car-wrecks take 3-hrs to get home. No shit.

It gave puh-lenty of time to think about game-design stuff. Oddly, it always turned to Car Wars type fare...

I-4 can give more of that "so this is what it would be like to be a snubfighter traveling through hyperspace for hours...with no astromech or navicomputer"
