Forgotten Realms: What happened to Sembia?

A friend of mine gave me the 1st edition Forgotten Realms campaign setting as a present. It says that Sembia is a DM´s
reserve, and that it won´t be touched by upcoming publications.

Is that still so?

I found some weirdo articels that detail strange aspects of Sembia, like a wedding planning service of some sorts. is this official?

Is there another DM´s reserve in the realms that remains undetailed?

Cormyr used to fall under that DM's reserve as well, but some world changing Realms event changed that. (Was it the Horde campaign?)

God, I hate it when RPG publishers lie to me...
Swords & Wizardry & Manga ... oh my.
(Beware. This is a Kickstarter link.)

Hmm...I don't know.  I do know in the latest FR, my player could bag an extra 300 starting gold by being from Sembia.  That's as much as I ever got into it. :)

I don't know how much detail Sembia got in the 1st Edition FR set (nice present, by the way), but there's a chunk of detail about Sembia in the 3e FR hardcover.  It doesn't say anything about it being a "DM reserve," but it mentions a group created by the ruler's son called the Silver Ravens, who are supposed to serve as a counter to the influence of the Harpers.

...An in-game suggestion that this country won't be meddled with?  To be honest, I haven't the faintest idea.

From my understanding, TSR basically ignored their promise not to detail Sembia when they needed details for fiction & sourcebooks.

As a result, there was already plenty of Sembia material available when WotC took over & released the 3e realms book.

The Sembia promise went out the window at such a speed that this level of hypocrisy-velocity land speed record was not beaten until Eberron's "we won't detail xendrick" (or whatever the fuck its called) promise.

They made that promise?  Wasn't Xen'Drik a pretty early sourcebook?

Yup, they turned around on that with so much speed that, if harnessed, it could allow us to travel to other solar systems.

I really dislike that they filled in Sembia.

Xendrik was filled in, but badly. So while I don't like it, at least they didn't flood the bowl.
