This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Might as well throw in L Ron Hubbard and Tim Leary with that list.

Well he did dabble in black magic, claimed to be bringing a self-proclaimed 'truth' to the masses that they were unable to achieve themselves, reserved a special level of powers and ability for himself, built his own fleet and established a cult that channneled its possessions and worship to him. Sounds more like the plot of an Exalted campaign than anything else.

I can see the character generation, 'I put all my points in into charisma[speciality: wackiness] and I'll buy it off with disadvantage:sociopath'.

ooo..

You know, I had wondered if this ever happened with groups. So far my experiences with gaming has been on the short side. A few months at most. Which has kind of disappointed me, because everyone spends SO much time going into loving detail on the characters only to bench them for a new game in just a bit, before a good story gets going.

And also so far, it's been all about the hack & slash. I want story! Detail! Depth! A purpose for my characters, long-term goals and 401k plans!

But now.. I get to DM, and it's with a group that's mostly family, so I will have them at my mercy for the rest of their LIVES! Muahahahahaha. No running off to kill something new in a new game in 5 months, noooo.
