This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Found this vid on YouTube....

Vin Diesel given a very impromptu D&D scenario by an interviewer:

In this one he seems like he'd be a fun guy to game with at a table - and damn! -  he appears to have memorized an old Player's Handbook based on the way he asks questions.

Shit.  If half the gamers I knew had his passion it wouldn't be so hard to find a really good group to play with.
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

He also has a point: he's a 5th level fighter and only has a rusty short sword?!  What kind of idiot DM is running this campaign?

Must be a WFRP GM. :)

The John Madden: DM video was pretty funny too (on the sidebar of "similar videos").

Then Brett Favre appears! BOOM!

I'm in the same position as the football-savvy guy in the video in my group - nobody else knows a lick about any sport.

I agree, Koltar I bet her would be fun to have at your gaming table.

I wonder, now that he is so busy with movies and whatnot if he ever has time to still play or whether he no longer has time.

With that second video, saying he doesn't know how D&D would play in an age of technology, I am guessing he doesn't have time anymore to play.

Koltar

Rumors have leaked out from time to time that opn each movie shoot he tries to get his co-stars to play a game or two of D&D during their filming weeks.

He asked a particularly famous co-star to play when he was in the filming stages of "Chronicles of Riddick".

Yep, of course these are just rumors and we have no proof he actually got people to play.

Not to mention from the videos he sounds like he players old-school D&D not any of the newer editions.   And if he playes, it's rare.

He plays WOW.  That probably scratches the itch, especially with his tight time commitments.

Yeah, I am sure that fits his time schedule better because he can play, whenever he has the free time

The only famous actor, heck the only actor, on Chronicles of Riddick was Dame Judi Dench. I somehow I have trouble imaging her sitting a round a gaming table, D20 in hand.
New! Cyberblues City - like cyberpunk, only more mellow. Free, fully illustrated roleplaying game based on the Fudge system
Bounty Hunters of the Atomic Wastelands, a post-apocalyptic western game based on Fate. It\'s simple, it\'s free and it\'s in colour!

Nonetheless, play D&D she did.  While not a convert, she grokked the appeal and is positive about it now.

Yeah, but some people find it hard to imagine Vin Diesel doing it, too.
