Need a Unisystem thread.  I'm running a Buffy game right now, possibly one of the best games I've ever ran.  It's getting to where I'm downright intimidated sometimes because I don't know if I can keep this level of cool up forever.

Right now all I have is the core book and The Magic Box.  I'd like something to flesh out bad guys a little more.  Monster Smackdown looks good, but since I'm more likely to brew my own demons than to lift one from the show I was thinking Angel might be a better bet.  Suggestions?
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous \'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I'll be over here.

Nicephorus

I have only the Buffy core book.

But how about lifting stuff from Witchcraft, which is free?  The rules aren't quite the same but the layout of stats is pretty much the same and the concepts would work in many cases.

*shakes head*

Just remember that you can wrap up the season and add new characters... that keeps the cool higher than running a story line to death.

That's not a bad idea.  I have the PDF, and picked up the Mystery Codex and Abomination Codex on the cheap recently.  Might be some good stuff to mine for in there.

Oh, certainly.  This game will have a season finale where the main conflict is dealt with.  After that, there's summer vacation and (should the group elect Buffy again) we begin Senior Year with the option to change characters should anybody be interested in doing that.  And a whole new Big Bad, theme, and story plot.

Heh, we have a lesbianism subplot brewing already.  I almost used it for her episode, but having the jealous annoying little sister cast the Superstar spell was so much more tempting.  :D

The only Unisystem game I play is AFMBE so I can't be of much help to Buffy playing folks.  Unisystem rocks though, and Buffy has been a big hit.

Reefer Madness

Most excellent indeed.  The lesbianism subplot is entertaining if it's just subtly and kinda just there in the background.  Everyone kinda knows what's going on but no one is saying anything.  The Superstar spell trumps all though.

Yeah, she set it up that way.  She's sort of a misfit geek girl with some beginning witch knowledge.  Her best friend is a perky adorable little cheerleader that she has some hidden, slightly more than friendly feelings for.  It will be interesting to play out.

The Superstar is doubley awesome because I'm blindsiding her with it.  Because her sister had to borrow her witch supplies to cast the spell, she was protected from it.  So while the rest of the world just accepts that 13 year old Amber is an asskicking ninja, the PC doesn't know anything about it.  And I've told all the other players about it in advance - everyone at the table will act like Amber being all badass is perfectly natural, except for her.

I can't wait for tonight.  :D

Awesome.  Now where is that damn rep button when I really need it.

Correction.  Seems my backstabber technique has given me the ability to rep.

Damn, that's great.

I'd love to see a story hour based on this campaign.

That's certainly possible.  I have some of it done on Myspace (lol) and other episodes partially done.  When Pooka gets the story hour section up I'll post them.

Like I've said, I think this is possibly the best game I've ever ran.

Bagpuss

While having your own evil guys is nice, I do think that most Buffy games benifit from have the occasional series tie in type baddies. That's where the Monster Smackdown book comes in, but that's only part of the book.

I'll give you the chapter break down.

1: Welcome to the Hellmouth (about Hellmouths) 10 pages
2: Die young, live forever (all about vamps) 20 pages
3: From Hells (all about demons) 20 pages
4: Everything you ever dreaded under your bed. (everything else) 24 pages
5: Bads, Big and Small (stats of critters from the show) 50 pages
6: Monster Spawning (build your own monsters) 22 pages
7: The once and future HST (adventure) 15 pages
8: Index

I'ld recommend it.
