This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

And the award for the most AWESOME RPG-art goes to...

In my book? Qin, without out a doubt.

Check out some of their new stuff, from their upcoming sourcebooks:

This is the sort of thing where people could really say the book would be worth getting for the art alone.

Okay, #3 literally made me catch my breath.

EDIT:  I'm going to have to design an Asian-themed adventure just to use that illo.
You should go to GaryCon.  Period.

The rules can\'t cure stupid, and the rules can\'t cure asshole.

Wow, that really is some amazing art. I still think the McBride covers for MERP were a case of "FTW" as far as best game art goes, but this doesn't mean that everything else is shabby. These pictures are amazing. The last two blew me away.

What's Qin about? Quality artwork like that leads me to believe the game is well written as well.

Qin is a wuxia historical-fantasy game set in ancient China just before the time of the first emperor. Its also easily the best game I've seen as far as handling both wuxia and the real style of Chinese fantasy emulation-of-genre.  I use it to run my own Romance of the Three Kingdoms campaign.

So true.  But then getting Qin for the art alone would be like, I don't know, getting a solid-gold Mona Lisa just because as far as metals go gold is pretty soft and that's neat.

(I really really want more Qin, like yesterday.)
Not as dumb as I look, sound, or best testing indicates.  Awful close, though.

That artwork doesn´t strike me as that good.

Except perhaps the Pagoda on the Karst Tower. That´s a good one.

I´m also baffled that Pundit digs Crypto-Pedo-Idols.

Everyone has their own tastes, of course.

I most like the three landscapes (the courtyard, the building on the mount, and the pagoda).  Those three are particularly evocative (to me at least) in ways that are hard to put into words.  The last one, for example, just makes me think "who's that coming out of the pagoda?  I know that's not good for the PCs, but why?"

They're especially a wonderful change from Exalted-style art, which is what I'm most exposed to right now.

But all others have a rather freaky perspective problem or depict humans in a strange way.

Sweet. I'll have to check it out.
