Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

How many old RPG gamers do you think stick to the systems they know rather than play the current versions?

If given a choice, I'll play Palladium Rifts, RoboTech, Heroes Unlimited, and Fantasy.  Hell, I like 1st edition Fantasy over 2nd.

Theses days I only get free games, of rules lite stuff so I don't have to learn a complex system.

Also, I don't play any D&D.  Games like Dungeons or and Delvers Dice Pool Edition and Star Adventurer are as close as I want to get.
When I was in HS and college back in the '80s, my friends and I tried out almost every rpg we could get our hands on. It didn't matter how complex the rules were, since we were used to complex rules sets from wargames. Now, I find it a chore to learn new rules unless they are very simple.
This is a problem - the D&D (or Vampire or Pathfinder or whatever) Snob who only plays one RPG and refused to even try anything else.

My own pedigree:

B/X and BECMI D&D/AD&D/3.x/5e
Twilight:2000 1e/2.2/3e
Star Frontiers
Top Secret
James Bond
Top Secret/S.I.
Delta Force
Call of Cthulhu
D6 Star Wars
D20 Star Wars
Vampire
Pathfinder 1e
Spycraft 1e
FASERIP MSH
DC Heroes 1e
Gamma World
Torg 1e
T20 Traveler
Burning Wheel

Can't say I enjoyed them all, but I at least tried them - which leads to cross-pollenization of game mechanics and different plot ideas.

.....  Dozens of wanna-be tv actors "playing" RPGs on YouTube.  These do not constitute a healthy RPG experience.

^^^^^^This. I agree with.

Absolutely. I spent hours I'll never get back watching terrible Call of Cthulhu channels full of incompetents (I watched some scenarios I wanted to run to get some ideas and all I got was how not to run them). Also, they were as boring as hell. I mean... how you can make CoC boring??

"The Calyx" is the only one worth it, IMHO. It is an all girls CoC YT series and the only one where the players seem to, you know, have fun (the Keeper is just cruel). But it is a drop in the ocean. And I'll never play online anyway.

Knowing what not to do can be as vital as knowing what to do, so you still learned something useful watching them.  :)
Fuck the fascist right and the fascist left.
