This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Was asked to help people in getting their review channels off the ground. Made this video as a guide.

Not that I have time to watch it, but certainly it's a worthwhile effort worthy of a bump. Many written reviews I've read do not go deep enough for my liking. I suspect part of the problem is that if you haven't played the game, it can be harder to estimate how it will play in real life based on reading alone.

Thanks.  It is kind of sad regarding the dearth of RPG lore channels.  There's plenty for Forgotten Realms, but I'm the next biggest with Mystara at only 6300.  Ravenloft is next at even less.  But it's a lot of hard work and people don't realize that when they jump into it.  It takes a while to get noticed and you have to have content to show them.

Internet-famous YouTubers are expected to be showy and be entertaining on their channel if they want that high-subscriber count and make a living from Google.

I don't know. Mr. Welch is a lot less of a showman than I am on his channel, and yet he has more subs than me. Though I think I maybe get more views per video.

I would say both of you would get even more views/subscribers if you showed your faces in your videos. People like to see faces more.

Right, that's why podcasts are so unpopular...

You have to learn how to game the algorithm. You need to put out at least three videos for optimal reach. Getting mentioned by a much larger channel is the best way to gain followers that's how I first got my bump. But the spiffing Brit was one hundred percent right. The best way to give a lot of attention on YouTube is polls. They give you triple the reach that a regular video gives you.

Unless Mr. Welch is particularly memorable or attractive, he's probably better off sticking to audio only. As the joke goes, some folks have a face made for radio. And we can't ALL be lucky like Mark Fischbach (Markiplier) or Steve Thomas (Steve1989). Play to your strengths.

(No, I'm not saying you're ugly, Mr. Welch. But there aren't a lot of Youtubers who are just as visually striking as they are from an audio standpoint.)

My reasons are actually much more practical.  My house is quite small I don't have a studio. I'd rather not be streaming and have the family walking by in the background. YouTube frowns on children in videos that aren't designed for them and knowing what I know I would rather not have people knowing what my daughter looks like.

Plus I'm Scottish and Dutch. I'm too cheap to buy a camera

Those are also perfectly respectable reasons and I won't disagree.

Considering the tendency of certain people to go batshit fucking insane... yeah. Point conceded.
