This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The only problem I've ever had with a Tiny d6 game is with a certain type of player. The types that love to stack the odds in their favor, or build a character that can't possibly fail at a given task, in my experience, have not liked the Tiny d6 system.  The PCs have too high a chance of failure is a problem for them.

I've got a guy in my regular group like this.  He's the sort that makes a thief in D&D and stacks all the bonuses he can (feats, racial, tools, etc) so that there isn't a lock in the world he'll fail to pick.  And if he does fail, he'll hunt for more bonuses to make sure it never happens again.  When I ran Tiny Dungeons he would often get 3d6 to do things, but he felt like his character was incompetent at what he was meant to be doing because he failed sometimes.

I've read that WoTC did a study of their games and determined that a player needs about 70% of the time to feel that the game is going OK.   Those odds only exist in Tiny-D6 when you have the best odds (3D6, succeed on a 5 or 6).

Personally, I think it's ok to have even dice odds, aka 2D6/55% success if you can win due to more HP or stronger, more damaging weapons.  So long as you win, you win.
I'm glad for you if you like the top selling game of the genre.  Me, I like the road less travelled, and will be the player asking we try a game you've never heard of.

Looks like the general public have to wait.  It's not on Drive Thru RPG.

because it's buggy and needs another round or 2 of polish.

I got my PDF as a backer and I must say it looks fantastic.  This is my first Tiny D6 game.

Still in closed proof reading mode I take it?  Not for the general public?

So there was an update on kickstarter for Mecha vs Monster Evolved that their physical books are being shipped to Gallant Knight Games.   They will ship those out to kickstarter backers a few days later.

I'm more curious to know when the PDF file goes on sale on DriveThru RPG.  Anybody know?

did you try contacting them on facebook, twitter, or their email (i'm assuming) support@gallantknightgames.com ?

the email they are using to ship books out is shipping@gallantknightgames.com could always email them and ask.

Sorry.  Let me clarify.  I'm not a kickstarter backer.  I would not be eligible for any special early deals.

I'm just a normal customer looking to buy their game off the shelf, but I'm just looking for it in PDF format.  If that's good, I may buy a book.  Maybe.  Or ask for one as a holiday gift.

It's not clear if the game is out.  I ask because the search function on DTRPG isn't the smartest one out there.  I can literally spell a game 100% correct and have it show up as #3 on the list.  Miss-spell it, or not use the full title and it may not show up at all.

Right now I'm curious when a PDF goes on sale to the general public.

No one on the KS, i'm on the KS, knows when it will be sent to DTRPG.

Hence, me asking if you contacted the publisher directly. If they won't tell you that's rather odd.

It's now out on DriveThruRPG!  Finally.  I posted this thread back in March.  It's now late November after Thanksgiving here in the USA.

The game is not significantly different from the first edition overall.  I would say it's tweaked, but not rewritten.

I'll make a new post if I feel like discussing it more.
