While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). These new RPG minis seem much better...

I am slightly gobsmacked to discover that Wizkids is selling very nice pre primed (in grey primer) dnd and Pathfinder minis at well under what Reaper charges for a translucent blob still slathered in mould-release fluid. Wonder how they do it? Anyway just been picking up a bunch - the Shambling Mound is a particular favourite.

How are the mold lines? I got a couple of Nozlur's pre-primed Githyanki, and both had prominent mold lines that I had to file down, ruining the whole pre-primed angle. (If I have to do any modeling work, I'd rather just start from scratch.)
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Out of 17 minis in front of me 2 have visible mold lines - a goliath and a dwarf sorcerer.

Hm hm. Sounds much better. I'll have to pick some up. Probably when I get around to getting some contrast paints.

Just spotted a faint mold line on the bald head of a yuan ti, similar to the bald goliath head they really show up the line.

I saw these for the first time last month and came to the same conclusion. But I didn't buy any, since I invested in flats earlier this year.

Reaper Bones really had the advantage for a while, but the soft, white plastic they use really is total shit compared to what anyone else is putting out these days.  If you're not using the Light Grey or Dark Grey plastic (I have no idea what the names of those three plastics are, but basically as you get darker, the plastic is harder and can hold more detail - and is also more expensive.) I'm not interested.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

My disdain for WotC is well known, but I was perfectly happy with their prepainted minis (via eBay).

I know the WizKidz Mage Knight figs can be wonky (especially their 1e stuff), but I love using them because I find them extremely creative and super cheap on eBay so I don't suck in breath when they fall off the table.

Yes, watching my pro-painted Mordheim squad crash to the floor two decades ago still haunts me!

Wizkids minis look good.  I went to their site and I can find sections of unpainted and painted minis, but I'm having trouble finding a link to pre-primed.  Do you have one?

I've always been a fan of Reaper.

Does anyone know what the deal is that both Reaper and WizKids have Pathfinder Minis?

I agree they are decent and its nice to have more options in that discount 28mm space. The larger monsters are a lot more detailed and at a great price point.

Neither of them can really compare to the detail of plastic or resin minis, but you don't really need them to.
