SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So here it is:

Be sure to check it out for an interesting post about Family in old-school RPGs.

If you still can, I'd recommend posting one final article on your old blog, specifically about the move. I follow your blog on my phone and tablet, and didn't know about the move until I saw it here.

As I understand it from the first post in the thread, Xanga are basically holding the blog for hostage - Pundit can't post anything to it unless he pays them money.

That being the case, I absolutely don't blame him for walking away, and I especially don't blame him for not even taking the chance to post an "I'm moving" post. It'd defeat the point of moving in protest at the fee to pay the fee anyway to make a post about how you don't want to pay the fee.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Xanga's says something about being able to download ones archived posts, but I'm not sure if that was until the end of their fundraiser, or if it's still free for bloggers to grab.
"Dr.Who and CoC are, on the level of what the characters in it do, unbelievably freaking similar. The main difference is that in Dr. Who, Nyarlathotep is on your side, in the form of the Doctor."

Take care Nothingland. You were always one of the most ridiculously good-looking sites on the internets, and the web too. I\'ll miss you.  -"Derek Zoolander MD" at a site long gone.

Well, it's one thing being able to download the database and it's another thing to be able to import it into Blogger. Are they even compatible?

The archived files are all in .xml format.  If you can work with that, great.

Quote from: Spinachcat;688908I agree with your article about family in RPGs. I remember how cool it was when Oriental Adventures came out for D&D and suddenly we had a setting where we had to deal with concerns of loyalty (clan, family, etc) quite different than Greyhawk or Blackmoor.

Well, if you like that you'll really like Arrows of Indra, I'd think.

All of my blog up to a year ago is archived here on theRPGsite (in the Pundit's forum), and I should be able to continue doing so over this next year.  So I don't think most of the material will be lost.

First thanks for the shout out. Glad everybody is having fun with Scourge. Second, I don't think you are filling out the Titles for your posts. This makes it hard to link too and it doesn't show up on a blog roll either.

Agreed.  The missing titles causes the blog to be lost in my blog reader.  I mean, the posts are there, but unless you're looking for them, they are not noticeable as it just shows up as a paragraph of text with no title to call it out as a separate thing from a prior blog.

Oh, updated the link on my Blogroll, as well, so you your posts should be showing up in my sidebar.

Precisely.

I'm counting on word of mouth for people to figure out where I've gone.  So please spread the word!

Gotcha. Starting to put in titles now.

Any other advice on the technical end of things?
