This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Saladman

Playing:  Deadlands Savage Worlds and a Barrowmaze dungeon crawl, each only once a month.

Running:  Legend of the Five Rings.

Planning:  ACKS old school hex- and dungeon-crawl.

Reading:  Oddly, nothing in particular.  Mongoose Traveller and ACKS used to go here, but I'm mostly digesting what I've got, and prepping.

How's that going?  I've been thinking of trying one of the Pathfinder Adventure Paths.  Shattered Star and Wrath of the Righteous are the ones currently out which attract my attention.

Playing

Shadowrun 5e and soon to be starting Iron Kingdoms.

Picked up Shadowrun 5e last year I believe, talked it over with various friends of mine and we decided to give it a try.  My friend is a huge fan of the game, but rarely gets to play, so we share GM duties, I run one or two sessions and then he does.  Its working quite well and we're able to maintain a couple of pretty cool, but seperate, plot threads.

Another friend of mine is going to start up an Iron Kingdoms game soon, which I am hugely looking forward to.  Iron Kindoms is an amazing world and I totally want to get a decent game going.

Running

At the moment my main focus is our weekly game, currently Nights Black Agents.  Running it as a mini-campaign while my hosuemate gets his Deathwatch game prepped for season 2.  Also running Shadowrun 5e (as above) and will soon be starting a mini-campaign of Eoris Essence.

Reading

Got a few books that I'm reading through at the moment.  Atlantis: The Second Age, Fractured Kingdom & Double Cross.

Planning

Planning Season 2 of my Anima Campaign and a season arc for a Tenra Bansho Zero game as well.

Playing:

Pulp game using Bulletproof Blues (after previous "system" was ditched for not being system enough.)

Rocket Age.

Running:
Hearts & Souls (Shadow of Vigilance), I was running another game but player attrition due to life events shut that H&S game down.

SMITE, using High Valor. I really wanted to run it via FATE but players didn't want to try it--mostly due to what I suspect is incorrect running of the Dresden Files. (The assumption that one must roll + to succeed at tasks, may have been a factor instead of a default rank which can be reached by many dice results.)

Reading:

Corporia, a Arthurian Cyberpunk Urban Fantasy game. Its pretty tight little package. I'm liking most of it. (More information here or there would have been nice, but its solid enough.)

Atlantist: The Second Age, Beautiful Book, well written.

Golden Sky Stories, Overall an awesome work, for non-violent leaning games.
High Valor REVISED: A fantasy Dark Age RPG. Available NOW!
Hearts & Souls 2E Coming in 2019

golan2072

Playing: D&D 3.5E
Reading: Classic Traveller stuff.
Writing For (Commercially): Mongoose Traveller, ACKS
Writing For (as a Fan): Classic Traveller, Stars Without Number
We are but a tiny candle flickering against the darkness of our times.

It's been decent, but my take one the adventurers is not without criticism. The adventure path is most straightforwardly a series of dungeon crawls connected by plot.

My main criticism is that in the first two books, there are two encounters which seem clearly unbalanced and highly likely to tpk with little warning.

I'm playing a zen archer in the game, which is proving to be a pivotal member of the party and gives the lie to folks suggesting that martial types dwell eternally in the shadow of casters in pathfinder.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

JamesV

Playing: Exalted. The GM lives pretty far away, so the game will be whenever he's around, but whenever it is, will be a break from;

Running: Numenera. I enjoy it so far. The rules are pretty straightforward to me, so prep is easy on my lazy butt, and in play the action keeps its pace.

Reading:
Numenera, Stars Without Number.

Planning:
D&D. Hoping for 5e to come out sooner than later this year (like late summer-early fall), but if it's too far away, I have a Basic Fantasy/ACKS hybrid waiting in the wings.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

A lack of moderation doesn\'t mean saying every asshole thing that pops into your head.

Quote from: Panjumanju;744124Playing: Pendragon 5th Edition, except, I keep dying and having to be other relatives. My last character was a lady knight. She barely survived a horrible battle then died in childbirth during that winter phase.

I'm running Pendragon at the moment. I took the view that if I had a female knight in play, which I haven't so far and probably won't at this point, I wouldn't apply that table in the same way for a PC. It becomes a bit punitive. A male knight loses a wife and he can remarry and continue, and have more children. I'd probably just make it an immediate aging roll and lost child for a female PC.

Anyway, on topic:

-Playing

Nothing.

-Running

Pendragon, the Great Pendragon Campaign to be precise. We're at year 538.

-Reading

Nothing.

-Planning

The next phase of the Pendragon game. We'll be at it for a fair while yet.
I roll to disbelieve.

Playing: Hollow Earth Expedition.
Running: WFRP (The Enemy Within) for the juniors; Pirates & Dragons; Dark Streets (and occasionally AD&D for the juniors).
Reading: I'm too busy writing to read much (aside from the 3rd party stuff that I'm editing and a spot of Wodehouse) - I'm a bit worried that I'll end up like Garth Marenghi.
Writing: Finishing off the Pirates & Dragons Bestiary book; tinkering on a couple of novels.
Editing: The Case of the Missing Professor (for Dark Streets); The Breaking of Spring (historical).

Too early to judge. We've only just started - we did the first character creation session last week. Character creation was OK, although, because it was new to the whole group, a little slower than usual. I'm guessing it'll either be fine or our GM will port in one of our own systems within a fortnight (that's usually what happens).

Just from reading it looks like a fun system, though the scaling rules seem somewhat confusing.
