This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So is Tome of Salvation any good??

I've got the Tome of Corruption (for WFRP) and its AWESOME.

What I'd like to know is just how equivalently awesome does Tome of Salvation get? Or does it fail to achieve awesomeness?

I nabbed Tome of Salvation about a week ago and there's whole parts of me that think it's actually better than Tome of Corruption, and I friggin' love Tome of Corruption. Chaos is a very important force in the Warhammer setting, but the other side of the coin (and equally important) is religion. I think the book does a great job finally fleshing out the religions of Man. You get distinctions between how nobles and peasants may worship, stuff on the obvious like holy days and what-not, templars of the various faiths and stuff you'd pretty much expect such a book to have. But then they go further into it all, which is what turns me on to the book. I came away from it really understanding the dynamics of the various religions and the churches built around them. Also: Non-spellcasting clergymen... finally. Also-Also: Initiate and Priest skills broken down by faith, so not every priest feels like a Sigmarite.

Of course I have a few beefs with it though. My main one is how the new Careers are scattered throughout the book as opposed to put in one place for easy reference. Well... actually, that's my only real beef. Otherwise it's a really great book and it doesn't have the terrible editing job Tome of Corruption had.

It is definitely one of the better WFRP sourcebooks out there. Erik Boille might cry while reading it, but anyone else might really dig the piece.

If you want I can break down the chapters and such.

I would say it's even more useful than the Tome of Corruption.

As far as the usefulness (and frequency of use) of the WFRP "big supplements" goes, I think of them in this hierarchy:

Tome of Salvation at the top. Not only is it damn useful if any of the PCs are priests, it simply goes into depth on a topic which most citizens of the Old World are going to come into contact with on a regular basis as part of daily life.

Tome of Corruption in the middle. Just about all WFRP campaigns are going to incorporate Chaos, but at the same time the PCs aren't going to be interacting with it on a daily basis.

Realms of Sorcery at the bottom. It's incredibly useful if you have a wizard PC, or if your campaign focuses on the colleges of magic, but if neither is the case it simply isn't as immediately relevant as the Tomes.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Damn, I'm really wanting to get this now...
