This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: TristramEvans;639915I've generally found the same thing, though Silver Age Sentinals was the exception there. Some great characters I wouldn't mind actually seeing in comics.

Really? Like which? I pretty much saw it as your standard DC/Marvel copycat stuff...

Alice, Queen of Hearts was the first one to come to mind. Sort of Black Widow crossed with Harley Quinn. I can't recall the Dr. Doom-type one, Baron something, but I liked him as well. I mean, overall, yeah, it was etsy's of common archetypes, but they were specifically done pretty well so it didnt feel like "why would I play this character when I could just play the REAL Captain America? " etc, which is how most supers NPCs make me feel.

I guess, I dunno.. it still all feels like a DC/Marvel ripoff to me. Its the classic problem: either they're too much like an imitation of the big names, or they're not enough like it, and either causes them to suck.

Always a problem. I rather liked M&M's Freedom City variants--as they managed to be good at being the analogues they were without being strict clones. That was until they revised them for 2E and completely started stamping out copies.

I hope my setting sorts vary enough with the new core team: Lariat (Elastic former FBI investigator), La Roca (Super tough/strong geologist lady), Tumbleweed (Acrobatic super speedst  teenager), Carnivora, (Feral powered biologist), and Captain Eagle (Legacy heroine who has a winged battlesuit.)

As they stand they're just these people. Also better name than "La Roca" is needed if anyone can suggest one.
