This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Yep. This kind of thing might be great for video games, but just like MMORPGs didn't kill the RPG hobby, neither would any AI innovations.
Because playing with other humans is the point.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

I don't think anyone wants to kill tabletop RPGs, it is just bringing more immersion to video games, make it more like the 'real thing'

nope

OK guys, nice comments and all but let's get to the heart of the issue: will it let me seduce barmaids and if so, in how much detail?

I can only imagine what the training data for the neural net will look like for that.

Some poor dev is currently losing their mind as they comb through and curate all those increasingly repulsive ERP chat logs...

Tabletop roleplaying games are a social creative hobby. Computer games are to board games what masturbation is to sex with another person: it's fun, but there's someone missing.

I disagree. I've been RPGing since 1977 and fully 50% or more of my gaming has been solo. Other players are an option. A group can be fun but arent necessary.

Having talked to various folk running free range learning AIs... It looks like a mess after a while as malicious people give it all sorts of misinformation. Targeted AIs with a set limitation or focus are better as they arent going to drift into wacky land as easily.

Also. A bunch of free learning AIs will just wander around and do their own thing unless tethered to a job or locale. Great if you want NPC adventurers that may join the party. Horrible if they are intelligent citizens or adventuerers being killed for "fun". Welcome to new Westworld.

There are plenty of people for whom fully 50% or more of their sexual activity has been solo. It's still more fun with others.

If anyone is tempted to share the percentage of their sexual activity since 1977 that's been solo, please don't. (Edited to add: oh, too late. Shoulda posted quicker.)

If Westworld were tabletop instead of LARPing, it wouldn't be so bad. Maybe if they had played TTRPGs with it instead of chess, the HAL 9000 would have been satisfied with TPKs instead of trying to murder the entire crew.
