D6 Fantasy - What's the point of it?

Based on some glowing recommendations, I bought the .pdf. And I skimmed it, enough to make a wizard...

...There really isn't much there. It's rules-light, but acts like it's trying to be rules-medium and not really succeeding.

Maybe I'm wrong here - Anyone who plays the system want to convince me?
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

I had a different problem with it. It just didn't feel like a fantasy game.

I like the system well enough, but for me, I think I have a little problem in that d6 doesn't feel like fantasy to me.  Too much sci-fi and Star Wars have come before.

I have it, and I'm not sure how to feel about it either. I get the rules, though the spell generation system seems a bit fiddly. Dunno if that's good or bad, 'cuz heck if I ever get a chance to play anything around here.

That sums it up pretty well.

I really wanted to like D6 Fantasy, but it's just too much work to do anything  with that magic system.  Plus it has maybe the worst art and layout of any rpg I've ever owned.

It is, and it's a pain in the ass.  If you have D6 Adventure or Space, I recommend using the Psionics rules (from Adventure) or the Metaphysics rules (from Space) instead.  Both are easier to grok than the magic system.

I think the Force powers converted for fantasy would be ideal, and I hope to tackle that some day.

Other sources* for D6 magic systems that may be useful (none of which I have actually read, just heard about) are:

Indiana Jones-Magic and Mysticism
DC Universe-Magic Handbook
Star Wars-Cracken's Threat Dossier (Dathomir witch spells), Darkstryder:EndGame (Ta-Ree magic)
Godsend Agenda-D6 Powers

*These are obviously all long out of print except the Godsend Agenda book
