This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

C’mon Chaosium, try harder…

I don't see how it could hurt the game to have monster stats in it since you can use them as you see fit.

While the 1920s are the default era to set the game in, and one I personally enjoy, I don't recall there being an awful lot of specific 1920s info in the rulebook, or is there? There are equipment lists for 1890s, 1920s and 1990s, which makes it pretty generic.

The original release of the game specifically targetted the 20s. All of the reference material (price lists, maps etc) kind of assumed you were running the game during the 20s. There were a few mentions of running CoC in other time lines and then eventually Chaosium started turning out the Cthulhu by Gaslight and Cthulhu Now material. In later editions Chaosium started making the core book more generic in it's setting.

As a relative newcomer to Cthulhu I wasn't aware of that. I'm only familiar with the 6th edition.

The upcoming Cthulhu by Gaslight 3rd edition does look very promising, by the way.
