This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm having trouble parsing this...

Are you saying that there it is possible that there is only a singe GURPS fan with multiple heads?
Disclaimer: I attach no moral weight to the way you choose to pretend to be an elf.

Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

When I hear the D20 part, I roll for Biting My Tongue off.

Do I succeed?

The Butcher

You jest, but "GURPS will take over the world" (or the hobby in any case) was a popular meme in the 1990s here in Brazil; a time and place in which it held sway. It was right up there with, or a very close second to, AD&D 2e, at least until V:tM got translated.

It spiked when SJG published GURPS oWoD supplements -- shit, does anyone remember this? Soon enough there was going to be GURPS Dragonlance, GURPS FR, GURPS CoC, GURPS Star Wars and it was downhill from there. Every con I went to I seemed to run into some GURPShead (some taking the piss, some naively passing along hobby shop rumor, and at least a couple crazy types in love with their own spiel) assuring everyone that GURPS Marvel Superheroes was just around the corner.

I certainty knew quite a few people in the UK who believed the same in the 90s, yes.

Quote from: flyerfan1991;644439That sounds like Dominion, but I think the artwork is a bit pricey for Steve Jackson's tastes.

I think SJ can step up to the level of a Dominion, but I suspect that's the kinda game he wants. Dominion is a gold mine. The art ain't cheap, but the ease of making add-on sets that people want is why its so profitable. Also, its "non-CCG" status is a big draw.

SJG should assimilate Cheap Ass Games and then bring a few of their games up to a higher level of visual quality.

GURPS Dungeon Fantasy

The line has one of the best treasure tables I ever send DF 8 Treasure Table and oddly enough it is easily adaptable to D&D.
