This inspires me to think about one-shots of this type that use RPG mechanics for task resolution.  Alien did a little of this IIRC: secret motivations and whatnot.

Where else have you seen this idea?

Fascinating. As it stands it's really closer to a LARP/freeform rpg than a tabletop RPG.

Also funny how the Leftist cunty youtuber is already saying "Chinese game is problematic because it doesn't have western 'safety tools' to protect precious snowflakes".

I LOVED how the Chinese response to him was "We don't need safety tools because we can handle dark things", essentially "you decadent baizuo have destroyed your own civilization to the point that make-believe causes you unbearable trauma, that's how weak you are".

So it's a home Murder Mystery game, with the only difference being it's written for women that make 5 page character bios for lvl1 D&D characters.
I'm a middle aged guy with a lot of free time, looking for similar, to form a group for regular gaming. You should be chill, non-woke, and have time on your hands.

Not at home.  There are places similar to karaoke bars and/or escape room places that host them.

But I am picturing a home game-type thing in my head.  Fed by random tables for replayability.  Nudge the idea closer to what we might think of as a true RPG.

Oh, I want to do this. 

This looks a lot like what I do with my rpg adventures except the party essentially takes on a single perspective and all the other characters are NPCs.  I need to see if I can get a few of these and run them locally.

These have been around forever and around 2000 saw a resurge. Before that there was the popular "How to Host A Murder" sets and convention LARPs. I got to play a few at Mini-Con way back in the 90s.

Most of these are indeed a sort of LARP. Though some are just glorified Parlour Games that go back to what? The 1800s at the very least.

It's a sad kind of funny that he couldn't just talk about something neat. Like you know he couldn't help himself when he brought up how problematic it is.
