This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: BagpussYeah I know AEG have basically dumped a lot of their lines recently, pretty much all the RPG ones bar L5R, and some of their card games.

It wasn't AEG's doing as far as I have read so far.  It was the studios decision not to renew.

I just couldn't get past the price on that one.  I love me some Star Gate, but I got bills to pay...

Its well worth it.  Just think of it as buying the DMG, PHB, MM and a couple of other books.  The main book has everything that you need to start and run a campaign and actually has one of the lowest price per page in the industry.

The other problem I had, though, is that my campaign idea was only indirectly connected with the series.  It was more of a pulp game, set when the Stargate was first found.  And then the Nazis found another gate soon after.

So, while the book would have been mildly useful, it just wouldn't have the info I'd need for the game I wanted to run.  :)

Ah you probably be better off using CoC and just throwing gate stuff in from your knowledge of the series.

Yup...  Scott Gearin, Pat Kapera and Alex Flagg took over the Spycraft RPG line, and are just now starting a new company called "Crafty Games".  Their prospects are looking good.  Also be aware that Spycraft 2.0 came out recently, and Stargate was made using the original version of the Spycraft rulebook.  The two version do have significant differences.

You'll want to check the Alderac message boards...  Plenty of people over there are continuing with fan-made Star Gate conversions and updates for SC 2.0.

I'm actually leaning towards Adventure!, 'cause I'm looking for a Pulp feel, but I don't know if it's actually allowed to use Adventure for an actual Pulp game...  :(

I was really talking just using the system.  Since CoC has rules and info covering the 1920's and 1930's which I believe is the era your looking for.

And anything can be pulp, it is more how you run it.

Well I imagine its a case of half a dozen of one and six of the other.

IE: The studio wanted X funds to renew the license and AEG didn't think it was worth that much. I'm sure the studio was happy with the work they'd done there were even reports of the writers using the RPG stuff as research material to check what had gone before.
