This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: estar;670934You must read a weird set of OSR blogs because all the ones I read are chock full of actual play reports.

Shoot me some links man. The only play reports I come across are from google+ and Skype and that's usually a red-flag as far as content goes for me.

I also may or may not also be baked when I'm on the internet half the time.

Why?

It's usually stuff I'm not interested in. I like to experiment and I enjoy reading shit from others that like to as well. If they keep a blog and play mainly online then I just assume ascending ac is probably as adventurous as they get. Most of the time I'm right.

What a horrible burden it must be to be right most of the time!

Seriously, though, I don't know what constitutes 'adventurous' for you, so I'm having a difficult time responding to this.

If you think the majority of people playing older-style-D&D (online or otherwise) are grognardy acolytes of the Church of Gygax, I'm afraid you're sorely mistaken.
Wampus Country - Whimsical tales on the fantasy frontier

"Describing Erik Jensen\'s Wampus Country setting is difficult"  -- Grognardia

"Well worth reading."  -- Steve Winter

"...seriously nifty stuff..." -- Bruce Baugh

"[Erik is] the Carrot-Top of role-playing games." -- Jared Sorensen, who probably meant it as an insult, but screw that guy.

Most of the blogs I link to have actual play reports at various times.

Then try reading through any of these three.

It is, it is.

That's not what I'm saying. Thus far, the blogs I've come across with online games are however. As I said, shoot me some blogs. I only follow two so far so I'm wide open (I have no school for like another month and a half aka I'm bored).

It seems there is an upside to education after all.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

Fair enough.  Some people will tell you to go to Jeff Rients' blog and look at everything in the blogroll, and that's not a horrible idea.  But to be more direct - and perhaps illustrative - here are some blogs of varying 'OSR' cred that I read regularly.  I'm calling out these particular ones because these are all people I've gamed with online in one form or another.

dungeonofsigns.blogspot.com - Dungeon of Signs.  Check out the HMS Apollyon setting stuff particularly.

monstroustelevision.blogspot.com - Monstrous Television.  Old-school DIY stuff from a guy who isn't afraid to love 4e.

metalvsskin.blogspot.com - Metal Vs Skin.  Variant stuff, a sci-fi setting.

//www.necropraxis.com - Necropraxis (formerly Untimately).  Mix of old-style stuff and newer-school experimentation.

sorcerorsskull.blogspot.com - From the Sorceror's Skull.  Home of 'Weird Adventures' which blends fantasy with noir-pulp.

reynaldogamingsoap.blogspot.com - Bum Rush The Titan!  Check out the JRPG-informed posts that mash up Ravenloft and classic Nintendo stuff.

talesofthegrotesqueanddungeonesque.blogspot.com - Tales of the Grotesque and Dungeonesque.  Gothic-inspired fantasy.  Lately a hotbed of post-apoc trash americana with hot rods.

My own blog is linked there in the sig.

Now what do you mean by 'adventurous' and all of that, if not what I wrongly assumed?

Now that's what I'm talking about! I'm going to make a blogger to follow these. Although the FLAILSNAILS stuff kinda bums me out because it constricts ideas but I think that can be a good thing creatively.

You're awesome.

Quote from: Kanye Westeros;670906Oh no, you called be me a retard. Yes, NerdNYC consists of jack and shit. The OSR exists beyond blogs, in fact most bloggers are shut-ins who rarely play outside of the internet with other shut ins. Why would I want to talk to them? It's like replying to you, redundant.

I have never played a game on the internet, and have a list of literally two dozen players in my various campaigns just right now.
In my experience, its the BNGs and the rpgnet-types who are the non-gamers or shut-ins.  They either don't really play at all or can't find anyone who wants to play the shit they like.
