Post by: tleilaxu on May 23, 2006, 12:50:09 PM
when creating a simulacrum is it a humanoid or a construct? what other considerations must one make while creating a simulacrum?

I would consider a simulacrum to be the same creature type as the original.

I'd make it a construct.

Anyone for making it an Ooze? :ponder:

I'ld start with a contruct that wants to be human.... and it's nose gets longer when it tells lies.

I'd say it's not a creature, it's a spell effect. :p

It does?
Quote from: The SRDSimulacrum creates an illusory duplicate of any creature. The duplicate creature is partially real and formed from ice or snow. It appears to be the same as the original, but it has only one-half of the real creature’s levels or Hit Dice (and the appropriate hit points, feats, skill ranks, and special abilities for a creature of that level or HD). You can’t create a simulacrum of a creature whose Hit Dice or levels exceed twice your caster level. You must make a Disguise (file:///D:/My%20Documents/adnd/3e/SRD/3.5/sovelior_sage/skillsAll.html#disguise) check when you cast the spell to determine how good the likeness is. A creature familiar with the original might detect the ruse with a successful Spot (file:///D:/My%20Documents/adnd/3e/SRD/3.5/sovelior_sage/skillsAll.html#spot) check (opposed by the caster’s Disguise check) or a DC 20 Sense Motive (file:///D:/My%20Documents/adnd/3e/SRD/3.5/sovelior_sage/skillsAll.html#sense-motive) check.
At all times the simulacrum remains under your absolute command. No special telepathic link exists, so command must be exercised in some other manner. A simulacrum has no ability to become more powerful. It cannot increase its level or abilities. If reduced to 0 hit points or otherwise destroyed, it reverts to snow and melts instantly into nothingness. A complex process requiring at least 24 hours, 100 gp per hit point, and a fully equipped magical laboratory can repair damage to a simulacrum.

Can't see anything about it. The closest thing to a statement about anything in the spell is that it creates a "duplicate," but with half HD/level. I'd still treat it as the same creature type as the original.

Then check the text of the spell in the PHB. Its stated in one of the books.

Can't find anything about it in the PHB, errata, or the FAQ.
