This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Jesus, that's a lot of different forums!

I think you might want to reduce the number a bit, as most of them will be empty or semi empty unless you get several thousand members. :)

On a different note: You place the shift between enligthenment and modern European history at 1900. Most books I've seen puts 1850 as the (semi-arbitrary) start of modern history. Something with  Romantic Art, the British Empire and the rise of Nationalism, I suppose. Is there any reason other than convinience you use 1900? (Please note: I'm no scolar. It's just that I've seen 1850 as the treshold often enough that I figured it was something of a general consensus. :))

Hey Bondetamp! Well, I suppose it was just out of convenience and seeking symmetry with the other forums' cut-off points.:) As for the number of threads, well, there used to be a website that I was a member of where I was a frequent poster, and the forum there had all kinds of scholars, veterans, and just well-educated or well-read members that made the historical conversations really special. Since then, the website has undergone radical negative changes, and is no longer a very fun or interesting place to have such conversations. So, in my own little way, I hope to develop a site where such vigorous and focused conversations may flourish.:)

Welcome to the wonderful word of forum admining Shark.  You may want to check out this place..

http://www.theadminzone.com

Lot's of useful advice for new admins.  Among the pieces of advice you'll find there that's already been mentioned in this thread is that it's usually a bad idea to have more forums than your traffic levels can support.  A few busy forums feels livelier and more active than a lot of empty forums.

Thanks Pooka! Hmmm...well, maybe I have gotten carried away with my desire for thoroughness?:) I guess I'll have to get the axe out and chop them down! Thanks very much Pooka!
