This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

DM's--Do you mostly stand or sit while DM'ing?

Quote from: ColonelHardisson;316068Seriously, this doesn't have to be a "We vs. They" kind of thing. Standing does not have to denote lecturing. The DM often has a lot of things to attend to to, from props to location of minis to using, say, a white board (if he's lucky enough to have the space). I don't get when people look down their noses at others for doing something they don't do, and ascribe unpleasant comparisons. It's the same thing that crops up when GM screens are discussed - somehow it gets turned into some sinister tool of player oppression. Christ on a crutch, it's just what people are comfortable using or doing, not some fundamental difference in ethics.

You ability to acertain my motivations off of two words is amazing. :jaw-dropping:

Completely wrong, but amazing none the less. :D

I don't care if you GM naked in a tub of peanut butter. I was just endorsing views already expressed, rather than adding my own. Stop being so judgemental. :nono:

I don't use a white board (too 80s) or minis (too 70s). I use a laptop with a slaved monitor to display a MapTool tactical map.

I am using lots of smileys so you will get an accuate grasp of the inner meanings of all this. :teacher:

weem

I sit 99% of the game...

...that 1% is restroom breaks or to snag some food ;)

But now that I think of it... We are about to move into a house (we just bought) and I have a room dedicated to gaming. There is more room and I could walk around the table... I just might do that.

Hmmm...

Mythmere

Mostly I sit, but during combats or when people are shifting minis around I tend to stand up. A lot of that is because I use a DM screen, and it's easier to see what's happening if I stand to look over the top.

Imperator

Quote from: RPGPundit;315983I do both, but mostly sitting. when I stand, its mostly to make an impact of some kind.

RPGPundit
Ditto. I think I sit about 70% of the time.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

PaladinCA

Mostly sit, but sometimes it is good to get up and stretch the legs.

Insufficient Metal

I sit almost all the time, and anyone who stands is wrong and oh so crazy.

No, I'm just lazy, pretty much.
