This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

CENTRAL TRAIT: Loud-mouthed and opinionated (5 dice): Enjoys complaining, being contrary, and especially making fun of others (particularly if I think I'm smarter than they are - which I usually do).

TRAITS:
Big Nerd (2 dice): I spend all my time at work on RPG forums or working on stuff for my campaign or next homebrew idea.
Big Boxing Fan (2 dice): I loves me a good boxing match, particularly with a knockout or a lot of blood.
Would-Be Writer (1 die): I have one screenplay written, a bunch of half-finished ones, and the desire (but not ability) to write more.

FLAWS:
Anti-Midas Touch (4 dice): My life isn't terrible per se, but it is a never-ending stream of disappointment and failure.
Mediocre Job (1 die): It's not bad, just dull.  And no one in my family ever remembers/understands what I do despite explaining it to them over a hundred times.
Enemy: Alex Marciniszyn (1 die): I'm probably not anywhere near the top of his list, but one day he will show up at my house with that sack full of doorknobs; I just know it.

Defense: 1 dice (trying to run away)
Attack: 2 dice (I watch a lot of boxing)
HIT POINTS: 16 (I'm fairly big and durable, though not all that healthy)
Now Prepping: One-shot adventures for Coriolis, RuneQuest (classic), Numenera, 7th Sea 2nd edition, and Adventures in Middle-Earth.

Recently Ended: Palladium Fantasy - Warlords of the Wastelands: A fantasy campaign beginning in the Baalgor Wastelands, where characters emerge from the oppressive kingdom of the giants. Read about it here.

You know Doc Rotwang you were in my Fading Suns game called A Little Dancin' Before We Pray*. For some odd reason the way how you post seeped into this character - an ex priest turned pirate who was funding a revolution with his ill gotten gains - don't ask me why...

He was pretty well known this, Doc Rotwang and the first time he boarded the ship the PCs were on he said : "If my reputation really precedes me, why aren't all your valuables neatly stacked in the corner waiting for collection?"

*Which was also the title of a DiTV game.

I hope you mean this in a good way.

The only two other posters I've used in a game is JimBob and Levi.

The former in my current OtE campaign - The Day of Living Dangerously - where he is the journo of Friskian proportions named Kyle Schuman. The pcs have to deal with this character who is snooping around their election rigging. The group send one of the pcs to interview a local contact who was a former radical who currently prides herself as an internet success story - she sells pirated DVDs.

"Yeah, Mr.Schuman. We held him for religious reasons some time back. You know we could not send him to Allah because how would you Amerikans say it?..we could not afford a ground zero. Did you know that some ...a lot of Islamic customs are preIslamic and Christian influenced? Or that you Amerikans should not whine about the fact that the world does not like you ...did the Romans whine? And what by the way is a cocksmock? Some of the men thought it was the traditional remedy for what is the medical term?..smegma."

When the pc was asked by her crew what she had learnt about this chap, she said "He talks too much".

The latter plays a conflicted cop in my Hunter campaign - The Righteous Kind - a close associate of the pcs who struggles between believing in a secular apocalypse and a religious one.

Woohoo! David R, I'm deeply touched.

Just wait for Koltar to show up. He got a whole swag of SJGames forum posters to stat themselves as characters, and used them as NPC sidekicks to the PCs in his GURPS Traveller game. Apparently everyone had fun, occasionally he tells the "owners" of the NPCs what happened to "their" characters ;)

Sorry there - I don't always look at every thread. This looked like yet another "stat yourselves" thread.

What you are referring to was  what my group refers to as "Gunny and his Mercs" ...in actuality Paladin and around 10-11 other posters on that forum who happened to be in the military or are very recent veterans.

When I ran that particular battle scene - I imagined I had TWO tables full of players and I tried to run ALL of the characters fairly - as if they were actually there. It was quite a fun night.  Last session my players actually were talking about re-hiring "Gunny Castillo and hiis Mercs" again.
That original session was in February of 2006/last year.

Just remembered one other detail - about a third of those people don't play RPGs or GURPS. They were mostly posters in the 'General Chatter" section of the SJG forums. Their equivalent of Tangency/Other topics

First, Pipe tobacco is not addictive, much less "highly addictive", it MIGHT qualify as "moderately psychologically addictive".

Second, my "Computer Use" rolls are probably all done untrained. I'm actually very inept at computers.

And yes, finally, I was not just a history major, I was a university-level instructor.
