This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It is a 100% made up rpg setting, maybe (please don't attack us)

I saw this post earlier on FB promoting the "World of Keisei" Setting for 5e Kickstarter:

QuoteSet sails from the realms that were forgotten, or the lands of the gray hawks, or whatever homebrew setting you might have. The World of Kensei is a made-up fantasy setting. It is a mix of many stories, myths, mythologies or just made up things with a label that sound or does not sound like any geographical region's language or have similarities with something that might have existed or a mix of both. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/riotminds/the-world-of-kensei

For some strange reason, it is as if they are anticipating an attack by the outrage brigade  ;)

Sounds bland and boring af.
What they hell are they even selling, the 5e SRD? Because that's exactly what it sounds like. The shitty, sophomoric writing of the ad only pisses me off more. Does nobody take pride in anything they do anymore?

rytrasmi

This is the same company that did Trudvang, which looks like a rich and interesting game. (I've only read it and haven't had a change to play it yet.)

Perhaps something got lost in the translation from Swedish.
The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out
The ones that crawl in are lean and thin
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout
Your eyes fall in and your teeth fall out
Your brains come tumbling down your snout
Be merry my friends
Be merry

"We produce pure fantasy products, not political manifests, and we understand that sometimes that is influenced by our own culture and social context, despite being a multiethnic team. We know we cannot satisfy everyone, and even though we try to be aware of how we present things we can also do wrong or say things that might offend people from different religious, cultural, sexual, political, or other backgrounds and lifestyles. That is not our intent and if that is the case, please contact us in a polite and objective manner and suggest changes, and we will listen. Do not try to polarize or start endless flame-wars or try to twist and bend every little word that is said just to win an argument."

So they're already covering for the expected attacks by mentioning their multiethnic team, saying that the things they're going to be attacked for were accidental (despite not knowing what they are yet), and asking the Woke to be "polite and objective". Good luck to them with that last part.

Their quote seems pretty decent and reasonable, but yeah, the Woke mob won't care--they'll crucify them just the same if they step on some toes.

Venka

It looks like a multiorigin Oriental setting, and it's using that as a mix so someone doesn't come in with like "You're the world of KENSAI which is JAPANESE for SWORD SAINT but you use WUKONG which has a CHINESE ORIGIN and...."

That sort of thing.

Hopefully it has some cool classes, 5ed is seriously low on oriental classes.

Omega

So another Oriental Adventures wanna-be combined with a pinch Fantasy Wargaming's arrogance.

Worded poorly, near insultingly. Its like they want to draw trouble.

Aglondir

Looks like an Asian-themed campaign setting, but they are too afraid to say it.

Beautiful art. Wish them the best.

I was told by Eric at Kicksnarker that this description was their second attempt because in their first one, they used the word "Oriental."

So they are just morons? Or woke morons? Neither paints their game in any hopeful light that it will be anything other than mediocre at best.

I love the word Oriental.  There's nothing racist at all about it.
