This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Back when I played Rolemaster, because we all knew the system pretty well, we found it ran quickly and smoothly.  For a long time it was my favourite system.  It's too complex for my current tastes, but I think it also has an unfair reputation for complexity, when I played it it was damn fine gaming.

The middle earth line was also good, but I agree that the magic was not at all appropriate.  Fun though.

What I really liked about MERP back in the days was the gameplay example. It had some players going against two or three orcs. And the orcs were pretty badass. Back then, this really got me excited. No more cannon fodder mentality. Sadly enough this wouldn't work anymore. Now most player will have _seen_ the movies and want to do Aragorn/Legolas-style slaying. Suddenly it looks like a case for the D6 RPG...

Did anyone ever play TWERPS? The Worlds Easiest Role-Playing system.

That game was awesome.
