This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hey all.
Very, very long-time lurker here.
I do enjoy a lot of the posts and discussions on therpgsite and admire the stance taken here on free-thought and discussion.

I occasionally drop by said blog in title for a laugh and its brutal reviews:  Over the top but in many cases hit the nail on the head.

Looks like everyone is blowing up about the author being identified.
If it is person stated, it is a surprise considering what they dabble in.  My worry is it may not be and someone's reputation is going to go down the tubes.

I'm not a fan of the recent trends towards guilty before proven innocent.

Anyway, should be easy to find many Reddit threads going in the next couple days and watch them spiral down the drain.

As an aside, I like Basic DnD, DCC and Fighting Fantasy for a background.

Bye for now.

The supposed author has denied the accusation. The evidence is present but also admits of other explanations--his blog and the YRIS blog are hosted in the same town, and a screenshot purporting to be from his Twitter or Facebook feed was posted on it. He has, however, mostly gone silent since that denial. I'm taking a wait and see approach.

The YourRPGisShit blog had crazy reviews and the style is berserk in its meanness, but I hope the author keeps on trucking.

I don't see why he'd give a shit about the Twitter mob. The blog probably has far more readers than that Twitter mob has actual gamers.

Let's hope the author reinstates the blog and doesn't back down from the shrieking roaches.

Someone give me the reason why this is important? Seriously - did someone get jacked?

Well, it may not be as important as the debate between Descending vs Ascending AC but I thought it was an interesting snippet of the day-to-day drama that exists in our little hobby.  Now if it had been Mearls as the masked blogger that would have been fun.
Just a little jostle in the fabric of time, nothing more.

The fact that this exists and is even something for outrage shows how skewed so many peoples' views are.  It is a hobby for most, a job for very few, and the only job for even fewer.  Let's reserve outrage for slightly more important issues such as homeless, starvation, etc...

Welcome to theRPGsite!!

The outrage brigade is constantly searching for the high that depersoning someone gives them. It's impossible to recapture the previous high, so the fix must remain larger and more frequent. As people grow wise to the fact that behind this shit-stained curtain is standing but a small fraction of the actual gamers, they will lose their ability to temper-tantrum themselves into faux-power (or be taken seriously). This is not a concerned group of people. They aren't interested in facts or reason. They just want to watch people burn knowing they lit the pyre.

Never heard of this blog before. Took a quick peek at some of the entries. I mean, it looks to me like just another edge lord with a blog to me. So fucking what? I'm not even entirely sure the content he had there was meant to be 100% serious. And even if it was, again, so what?  Let him be, I say.

One of these days I'm actually going to have to go through with deleting my Reddit account. I keep it open because some of the RPG forums are the most active around (like /r/osr and /r/traveller), but good God those people are actually worse than the woketards at TBP a lot of times.
The more clichéd my group plays their characters, the better. I don't want Deep Drama™ and Real Acting™ in the precious few hours away from my family and job. I want cheap thrills, constant action, involved-but-not-super-complex plots, and cheesy but lovable characters.

So it's just some guy saying "edgy" stuff and he's OSR developer, so he's fair-game (i.e. he's not WotC or a big company - so he's an easy target). And the outrage brigade struck?

And it's only controversial because he's a game developer doing KS's and doing it incognito?

Maybe, I guess? **shrugs**

I won't pretend to understand the outrage brigade on this one. Then again, I rarely do if I'm being honest. The shit that triggers these people...

I'm with you. I have no clue why this is important.

I'm disappointed either way. If David Guyll is NOT the guy who did YRIS, then I'm disappointed with the whoever did it for basically trying to frame him for it.
If he DID do it, I'm super-disappointed by this attempt to lie, instead of going "yeah, fuck it, I'm Iron Man" and going for it.
