This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Me too, speaking as an outsider who's never played the game. But reading it, I find the condensed complexity of HARP just right both on its own terms and as some kind of indirect entry drug into the advanced RM universe (i.e., RMFRPG). Whereas RME makes me think, "hmmm, quickstart rules used to be free?"

But RME is not a 'quickstart'.  It's a complete game (moreso than the old 'Basic D&D' set, since RME goes up to level 10).

That makes it a heck of a lot cheaper than Basic D&D ever was, especially if you account for inflation.

I'm guessing that $5 price tag is only for an electronic copy?

Yeah, but the printed version should only be 10-12 USD.  (The pdf version might go up to 6 USD once the 'official' version is released.)
