Quote from: SettembriniI got sick of one of the foundations of every Trav-verse. So I ditched it, and got a creative orgasm.

Can I ask what this "foundation" is that you got sick of ? I used to run Traveller, but for some reason I just got bored with the whole thing. I think it was the game system and the fact that the average tech level seemed a bit old fashioned for a futuristic rpg.

So atheists have been abused, treated badly by clergy or they\'re stupid.They\'re just being trendy because they can\'t understand The God Delusion because they don\'t have the education, plus they\'re just pretending to be atheists anyway. Pundit you\'re the one with a problem, terminal stupidity.

Quote from: pigames.netClash also wrote a new Miniseries for HardNova 2 that should be released in PDF format before the end of the year.

Can we have a bit more information on that Brett, please.
I'd also like to ask if there are any reviews of Intercosm to assuage my impatience while I wait for my girlfriend to buy me a copy!

Quote from: ScoundrelMy two cents:

Check out White Wolf's Trinity- It's out of print, but very cheap, and though it's focus is mainly on psi types, there's lots of opportunities for adventure.
.

If you like a big labrynthine metaplot and more low level superheroics type characters (thats what the Psions are really) then its perfect.
I felt overwhelmed and daunted at the huge "ginormous" chunk of background Trinity, and its supplements came with.
I rejected it in favour of a much simpler game with less fluff, Hard Nova 2. And I've never regretted it!

Quote from: GreentongueActually I'm playing with the original.  It was just re-released as a PDF.
Using Mythic as the rules and MA as the concept.
Methmorphosis Beta :D

I'm sure that you can get the original MA online for free as an .rtf document here:

http://www.metamorphosisalpha.com/

It uses the same system as the original D&D, if Im not mistaken.
I've always had a fascination about MA and Gamma World, I guess that one day I'll have to buy Earth AD 2 from PIgames, which sounds similar to Gamma world. Adding Hard Nova 2 would give me the rules to do a passable imitation of MA.

Not sure how long that will be available since the PDF release for sale on RPGNow.  (and it is "locked")

The attributes are different and it makes use of "Intensity Charts".
Radiation Resistance: 16, Constitution: 9, Mental Resistance: 18, Strength: 12, Dexterity: 7, Leadership Potential: 17

It has been called "DungeonCrawl in Space" though.

Not much to go on right now. It has to do with Privateers - bounty hunters, etc. I'll post more in the Precis Intermedia forums when I get around to editing it.

I haven't seen any reviews for the Intercosm yet. Because most of our customers are casual and rational gamers, there aren't many fanboys to rush out and gush all over these games. But if anyone would like to, be my guest :)

It's a series of linked adventures based off of a Privateer - a private ship of war. The adventures are of various types - piracy suppression, bounty hunting, and the like - and take place in various systems in the standard USU universe.

Anyone ever run a Martian colony rebellion?

Between the ongoing subplot in BABYLON 5 and the B-plot of TOTAL RECALL - its one of those campaign or one-off ideas that I've always thought about doing.

Not a rebellion, but I ran a gritty series of one-offs on Mars colony using the colony setup from Total Recall (pre-oxygenation) and stealing some ideas from Space Truckers and Ice Pirates.

Have you seen Pluto Nash?  If you watch it expecting it to be good you'll be disappointed.  However, if you watch it like I did, because you're in the mood for sci-fi and you've already seen every other sci-fi movie on the rack, you'll be pleasantly surprised.  It actually wasn't that bad and Randy Quaid as an outdated android bodyguard is hilarious.

Yes - unfortunately I HAVE seen it. The sad thing is that there are some reall good special effects work done in that movie - but wasted on a really awful story.

SECRET ongoing fannish wish: There should be a montage or 'clip' DVD of just establishing shots and really good Sci-Fi exteriors and special effects shots that didn't have the story getting in the way. Think of it as a visual aide for GMs that were running Science Fiction RPGs.

Privateers and bounty hunters.... sounds cool. Brett, I am that irrational fanboy who will most likely be gushing over Intercosm, some time in the near future. If Pete Spahn wrote 'A Guide to Watching Paint Dry' I'd consider buying it !:D

Quote from: beeberthe tech mix in star frontiers was always weird but still cool.  autopistols but also portable screens, FTL ships but no artificial grav.  we've had tons of fun with it, nevertheless.  your AP, ronin, is sparking a MAJOR jones to play it again :D

Some of my old groups used to mix the two together.

My major love was how easy robots were to design in Star Frontiers.    Other than that, I preferred house-ruling Traveller to mixing it with Star Frontiers.

By the way, does steampunk without magic count as sci-fi?

Does magic in space count as sci-fi?

I'm pretty sure Shadowrun doesn't count as the intended target of the thread, and I suspect that magic in steampunk would be even farther off the mark.
"By their way of thinking, gold and experience goes[sic] much further when divided by one. Such shortsighted individuals are quick to stab their fellow players in the back if they think it puts them ahead. They see the game solely as a contest between themselves and their fellow players.  How sad.  Clearly the game is a contest between the players and the GM.  Any contest against your fellow party members is secondary."
