This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Which do you prefer for all your gothic gaming goodness in the vein of Hammer Horror meets Penny Dreadful meets Castlevania meets Ravenloft meets Bram Stoker's Dracula? Rippers Resurrected or Leagues of Gothic Horror and why?

Based upon the setting and fluff, or based upon the mechanics (which, IIRC, are Savage Worlds vs Ubiquity)?

All of the above.

I backed the Kickstarter for Rippers Resurrected and jumped on the Bundle of Holding for LoGH, but haven't yet played either and haven't done a deep read of the LoGH stuff. Based on first impressions, Rippers Resurrected is more focused on its unique tone, flavor and plot and more high-action, while LoGH feels more 'classic' and more pure Gothics.

I'd take Ubiquity anything over Savage Worlds anything any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I have the Leagues of Adventure game, which is quite fine, but never picked up the Gothic book.

The more clichéd my group plays their characters, the better. I don't want Deep Drama™ and Real Acting™ in the precious few hours away from my family and job. I want cheap thrills, constant action, involved-but-not-super-complex plots, and cheesy but lovable characters.

Neither if I had the choice. I want a modern Chill (and not the shitty 3rd ed.). My hope rests with the upcoming Swedish Chill (Chock). I love Hammer horror.

Have you investigated Cryptworld by Goblinoid Games?

Well, I know of it, but haven't bought it. If the Swedish Chill fails my expectations, I will check it out. Have they released any adventures/scenarios and if so, are they good?

You really need to check out the new Shiver horror RPG.  It has completely replaced Chill for me and they have an upcoming release soon called Shiver Gothic.
