This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hello everyone! Here's a message from Shane Hensley about all this, originally posted on RPG.NET -

"Hi all,

Shane with Pinnacle here. I don't post a lot on RPG.NET but since most of you have been very kind and supportive I wanted to say a few quick words. Most any other information we give out in the future will be on our own forums--thanks for understanding. :)

So first off, it is a *line*, not a single book. We hope to explore many corners of the Rifts universe, and should have plenty of time and space to do it.

We aren't talking about the rules development at this time, but since Savage Worlds (in our obviously biased opinion) handles everything from gritty cop stories to four-color superheroes, we're feeling very good about Rifts' development.

Third, I love Fate, M&M, and many of the other systems you guys and gals advocated. Those are all AWESOME and we gamers are truly blessed to have so many amazing choices these days. I *truly* play and run everything, though of course Savage Worlds is my favorite.

We're very happy to be working with Kevin Siembieda. He's been gracious, encouraging, and awesome from the start.

Finally, we're happy to be working with Sean Patrick Fannon and Ross Watson on this. Sean got the ball rolling, Ross handles most of the project management, and the two of them together are creating something I think Rifts fans will find both familiar and different enough to open up new tales and adventures. Savage Worlds fans who haven't experienced Rifts will get to walk in one of the most rich, detailed, and over-the-top settings ever released. So we think this is a win-win and can't wait to show you our work.

All the best to everyone. :)"

I'll just add that I really appreciate the excitement, the enthusiasm, and the support, but now I need to put my head back down and finish the design and writing of this thing you're all wanting to see. We know how important it is to stay connected with you, and we'll be sharing more information down the road, I promise. There are quite a few more bricks to lay on this road before we start rolling traffic down it, though.

So lock that drum feed into your rail gun, call up those eldritch forces from the nearby ley line, and get ready for the great adventures to come! ~SPF

(Looks at the info that has been posted)

Well...ain't this some shit :jaw-dropping:

Will be interesting to see how this goes - good luck, man!
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

Awesome Sean! :D
Please don't be a stranger; I, for one, will love to hear more as you guys develop the line.

This could be really, really good.

Can't help but wonder if KS's motivation was a desperate need to make payroll, though.

Yeah, I think next month they're due for their 6th Annual Going Out of Business Sale.

Frankly I don't care if it's about him making money. That's why his product exists - to sell (and enjoy).

Double-Frankly - he should have done this sooner.

Savage Worlds: Rifts = Come. Take. My. Money.

I hope KS rolls around naked in it, Scrooge McDuck style. Whatever.

My Coalition campaign is ready to slag some D-bees. Bring it.

That made me laugh:)

I've been sending messages out to all of my friends who were very, very into Rifts when we were young, but never got the chance to truly play it.  I even handed out an extra copy or two of the SWED books to prime the pump so to speak.  They are interested, very interested.  There's a tiny spark now. I imagine that around December (or whenever it comes out) there's going to be a raging inferno of nerd fire.

I've been wanting to run a Rift's Coalition campaign for *decades*. I just couldn't sell my crew on the system. Palladium's megasystem has just become an over-wrought mess. This puts that dream back on the radar, yessir!

I am right there with you.  I remember ordering Rifts from a comic book ad when it first came out:)  Mailed my order in and everything.  For years we tried to get a game going, to no avail, because no one wanted to run the system.  But now...  oh man...   just a huge thank you to all who are making this possible.

Me, it's the NGR stuff.  But the Gargoyles HP and supposed numbers were obscene, made running it a massive mess.  Now, there's hope.

I've always wanted to play a mech game, but now might get the chance, assuming this works. I have no idea how mechs would work in SW.  Truth be told, I only know SW for the Deadlands game line.

If Savage Worlds can pull off Day After Ragnarok, the leap to Rifts isn't really that big. Sure Rifts has got more tech, more magic, more everything and some of the flavour, for better or worse, might be lost in translation but in the end both games are drawing from the same well.

I say this of course not having played either. :-)
New! Cyberblues City - like cyberpunk, only more mellow. Free, fully illustrated roleplaying game based on the Fudge system
Bounty Hunters of the Atomic Wastelands, a post-apocalyptic western game based on Fate. It's simple, it's free and it's in colour!
