This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: camazotz;354017On GURPS Spaceships: I think the main issue is not that 4th edition failed to include enough information in GURPS Space to provide for building spaceships if you needed them, it's that no information was included, with the original intention that GURPS Vehicles would cover that. When GURPS Vehicles died, GURPS Spaceships PDF was a patch because the need for some sort of system was there.

There was not, is not a GURPS Vehicles for 4e. In 4e, GURPS Vehicles is a line of books, currently consisting of Spaceships.

Perhaps it is, perhaps it's not, I don't know. Munchkin is not an RPG, so I'm not interested.

Munchkin is every bit as much an rpg as D&D 4e or Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3e or Maid.  It's just not usually played that way.

It has classes, levels, hit points, wandering monsters, characters.

Heck one might argue that it is an early example of the direction WHFRP has headed.  Which raises the interesting question.  Will GURPS 5th edition be a card game.  You know, it could work.  If all the advantages skills and so on were on cards and you built a character by picking out a hand you could also sort out the stuff by genre and even sell genre appropriate decks.  Maybe I do want WFRP 3 to succeed wildly.

Dungeons & Dragons in many editions.

The only one I can think of might be OD&D, although even that might not hold up in inflation dollars. BECMI and AD&D are unquestionably more than $50 for a complete game. 3e was more than $60, even on sale.
