This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Only a little more than a day left to put Tavern Cards over the top!

Tavern Cards are a deck of cards which allow you to randomly build a tavern for roleplaying games. If you like random generation of setting details, these are right in your wheelhouse.

Only $800.00 to go! Check 'em out!

Note that I'm simply a backer, not the project creator. All I get out of this if it funds is a deck of cards.

Think I'm missing something here. As in, what's the point of them? Are they a game aid, some kind of card game or what? I initially thought they were a pack of random adventure generators as might be found in the old 'You start in a tavern...' intros to adventures of old. Draw a card - rescue a... another card... merchant... who has been ... card... kidnapped... by card... Trolls and so on, with say a red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet section on each card, all different. Draw seven cards, read the colours and put an adventure plot together.

Or at least that's what I thought it might be. This, I'm not sure of. On the plus side $5 for shipping is very reasonable, probably too cheap (to get from the US to Britain for $5?) I'll have another look at it.

Yeah, I saw that post on story-games.com, too.

Well, I didn't post it there - just stating my thought on how the cards *might* have been useful. As it is, I don't know what they are for.

Like any other randomiser, they provide inspiration and they're fun to play with.

The project funded, btw.

I'm glad it funded but couldn't a similar thing be done with some random tables and no expense?

Sure. The cards add novelty, nothing more.

Well, fair enough. If some people want a gimmick, and someone else wants to sell it to them, there's no harm done.
