This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm working on my Gen Con preview right now, so if anyone has any super-big (or just super-awesome) releases they think merit attention, either post it here, PM me, or drop me an email at mail.rpgblog(at)gmail.com, and we'll see about getting it some coverage.

I'd be interested in hearing summaries of any discussions or presentations you attend. Also wouldn't mind getting a sense of what games people are playing this year.

Obviously any info on 5E is a plus.

Curious about anything they are doing for Numenera as well.

Quote from: jeff37923;769121I'd like to hear about your daughter's experiences with gaming there. I think that her perspective will be pretty important as an indicator.

Good point, though it would depend on how old his daughter is.  This would only really be an "indicator" to me if she was somewhere in the 10+ range.  A six year old might be old enough to 'appreciate' the con in terms of finding parts of it fun, but I don't really think would be anywhere near the target of what D&D 5e is aiming for, anyways.

If possible, get some pics from the Palladium demos of the Robotech Tactics minis game.  Also, I heard that Carmen Bellaire (Splicers, HU, RTT) has a new game coming out at GenCon too.

I'd be curious as to what his daughter thinks about the con on Friday as opposed to the designated "family fun day" on Sunday.  Since there will be fewer kids around on Friday, I'm wondering how the con will be different.

I'm not so much interested in her opinion of the D&D 5E product in particular as in her opinion of the hobby as represented at GenCon in general.
"Meh."

The Dungeon Crawl Classics usual suspects are running a crazy multi-GM multi-night thing after-hours, I think at the bar at the Embassy.  That seems potentially pic-worthy in the "gamers going nuts" category.
Wampus Country - Whimsical tales on the fantasy frontier

"Describing Erik Jensen\'s Wampus Country setting is difficult"  -- Grognardia

"Well worth reading."  -- Steve Winter

"...seriously nifty stuff..." -- Bruce Baugh

"[Erik is] the Carrot-Top of role-playing games." -- Jared Sorensen, who probably meant it as an insult, but screw that guy.

"Next con I\'m playing in Wampus."  -- Harley Stroh

I'm not sure we are going Sunday; it depends if the Mrs. wants to go, I suppose. Usually, I'm wiped out by Sunday, and trying to get everything ready to get back to work the next day. But I'll definitely see.

There's also a big D&D 5e Tyranny of Dragons launch party Friday night. I grabbed some tickets for that, so it'll be interesting to see what they do. It's apparently suppose to be a big event, with some surprise appearances and giveaways.

Took the family to an Indy Indians game tonight, just across the street from the Convention Center. The "Welcome Gamers" signs are already deployed on many of the light poles, and you could see plenty of deliveries being made at the Convention Center just across the road. Things are definitely gearing up!

One last call for any other items you'd like covered. I'll start the separate GC Liveblog thread likely Tuesday.
