This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I think Marlycat hangs out with my senile old mother, who recently announced to the family that I am gay and the Missus is a lesbian; we've been married for some 27 years now to hide that from society. I offered to provide her with a list of satisfied girlfriends, and that was the last I heard of that.

Shrug. Some people...

Seems that Ssirandars was a really favored appellation in the olden days!!!

Thanks,

The only reason I suggested a Part II is because over on Dragonsfoot and other forums that has these kind of threads they tend to carry over to a Part II (and III and IV) after a few hundred posts. I am not up on the technical implication of VeLoFTs (Very Long Forum Threads) however I threw the idea out there because that what I seen happen in other places. From what I observe it does  seems to rejuvenate the conversation a bit. From a moderator standpoint I am good with whatever you guys and the site administrators want to do in regards to this and similar types of threads. Personally I think it is it great that Chrine is doing this and I hope Part II grows to the point where we need a Part III.

Thanks. I'm happy with what you and Pundit want to do; I'm a guest here, after all. :)

Heh, your mother's lucky with such a well-mannered son!

Amusingly, "gay guy married to lesbian girl" seems to be one of those things that people used to talk about, but could never point a real example. So, I think they're like ghosts. That means they make for good gaming fodder when used in moderation, but don't count on ever seeing one.

Chirine, maybe it's me who doesn't see it, but is there a culture in the setting where the symbol of the warrior is the spear or halberd, and not the blade;)?

Uncle,

Any lists of the Bednalljan Kings and Queens. There is a particular one that I find interesting; the last one that went northward from Yan Kor to the other side of the globe. The one who met an ill-fated demise only hinted in the sourcebook. Would you have any insight into the subject?

Thanks,

H:0)

Yeah there's a ridiculous number of Ssirandars in the Bednalljan and Engsvanyali king lists, but pretty sure the guy you are thinking about was Tarishande XIII, the last emperor of the Tarishande Dynasty, and indeed, of the First Imperium

Agreed; she was trying to cause trouble in the family, and we weren't having any of it.

Yes, up north in Yan Kor - spears, as I recall; I'll look it up for you.

Zirunel many thank yous for pointing me in the right direction...Found it, "...Tarishande XIII is spirited away from Bey Su by his remaining loyal servants. This band of political refugees flee from the pursuing contingent of Ganga soldiers across the Northern Sea beyond the North Pole."

Any idea how he met his end...? Hokun? Or worse?

Yep, you're right, that's the poor guy. The Ssirandar I was thinking of was the one we met on the far side, where the descendants of the dynasty still like to hold that they still reign - and will return to claim their throne real soon now. Made for a good plot hook, and once we figured out what Phil was up to - "Oh, let's overthrow the Seal Imperium this afternoon, shall we?" - we got our little butts back into the tubeway car as fast as our legs would carry us. Honestly; that man was a menace with some of his plot ideas...

Personally, I think it's the whiff of primer paint that attracts them. Always seemed to work with the ladies; had one young lady who really, really wanted to pose for me while I painted up a Priestess of Avanthe in her likeness. Still have the figure, too.

We really can't make this shit up, can we.
