This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It looks like Amarillo Design Bureau and Mongoose Publishing are joining forces to make a Traveller variant compatable with the Star Fleet Battles universe. Could be a lot of fun, could also suck - I want more information.

Couple of teaser links below (one is the ADB site on Facebook)

Love how ADB just churns away there in the background; got their niche and are happy with it (I'm guessing at this last point, mind you).

A Traveller PD could be interesting.

p.s. Now, if we can have a cross-genre fender-bender possible due to rule compatibility, I've got to see a throw down between Starfleet pogues and Judge Dredd.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

i'll grab a copy of PD/traveller (the call to arms/SFB thing doesn't do anything for me).  be neat to see the trek (kinda) universe done up trav-style :)

Sadly as I understand the license, they can only use material from the original series.

give people enough time and im sure someone will create ferengi for the game.

Awwwwwwww man.

The best thing about the original Trek RPG was that you could play Ferengi with absaloutly no use to the party but lots of quality merchadise to sell!

At this point I prefer the Prime Directive/SFB universe to the official Star Trek one... it feels wilder, less new-age, less PC. I'm glad it's picking up a new branch... even if it is Mongoose.

Ferengi though, they always bothered me... they're like some old stereotype of Jewish people/Roma... in space.

Tahmoh

the original concept for them was the perfect capitalist race, somewhere along the line something went awry though.

What the hell are you talking about??

The 'original' STAR TREK  RPG was either in the late 1970s or early 1980s (depending on which publisher or version you prefer)  - before there were any fucking 'Ferengi' created for the STAR TREK universe.

Apparently Mongoose gets use of the SFB universe to make a RPG - Prime Directive-Traveller and a SFB version of Call to Arms.  ADB gets Mongoose's figure manufacturing process, with Mongoose making a whole new line of computer designed miniatures for sale by both Mongoose and ADB.

Sounds like a win-win for everyone.

I would really enjoy ACTA using Star Trek Ships.  Holy crap that sounds amazing!  As long as they keep it fast and fun, I'll be hooked like a trout.

I love the Star Fleet Universe and Traveller, and I like ACtA well enough. I bet it'll be great. I think GURPS Prime Directive has been great.

I loved the original Prime Directive game, but I may be the only one.
