Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Is there a way we can help make this happen?  I am talking about before and during the event, as well as organizing over the next year.

Wryly appropriate that its being held in Wisconsin, the Bermuda Triangle of states.  8) heh-heh.

And the birthplace (birthstate?) of D&D, the original roleplaying game!

D&D was born in Wisconsin ... but roleplaying was born here in Minnesota. :D

I'm not a D&D historian... can I get a fact-check on aisle 3, please?

I believe that the Minnesota reference is to Dave Arneson and his Blackmoor campaign.

Yep, I realized that.  But I don't know if Gygax started roleplaying before Arneson?  I know Arneson cleaned up a lot of Gygax's notes, rules, and mechanics...

Unless there's an act of God (tentacles crossed), it'll happen.  What you and others can do is let people know that Venger Con is a thing.  I'm sure convention talk will casually come up in conversation on RPG forums and social media.  Just that would be great!

Thanks,

May I reccomend the documental "Secrets of Blackmoor"?

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

I'll go if you can convince Pundit to attend and GM a Last Sun or Dark Albion event.

Look up the Braunstein campaign. There's a very good argument that David Wesely was the first gamemaster, and David Arneson was the first player. For a very lengthy treatment, read Playing at the World.

Edit: Here's a good article on the topic https://arsludi.lamemage.com/index.php/104/braunstein-the-roots-of-roleplaying-games/
