This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Which of the Poobah's weird worlds floats your boat?

Me, I live in Glorantha, and I've never even visited those other places (though I have looked at the guidebooks).

Talislanta. It's the least weird, basically just another Sword & Sorcery setting with a bit more color than usual. And the system, oh my...
(It's a bit more weird than the Wilderlands, which are a bit more weird than Hyperborea -- still, a Conan-esque heroe would feel at home in all of them)

It's a pretty even poll at this point.

Glorantha, for its strong emphasis on mythology, and quasi-European setting.

arminius

I know Glorantha best, but I picked Talistlanta for the S&S vibe. Pretty much on a whim, since I don't know Tal all that well at all.

RPGPundit

Just so you know, I voted Tekumel. If I were to try any of these, it would be that one.

If Tekumel was only slightly less wierd, slightly more relatable, I think it could have been a truly magnificent setting.

Tekumel here.  Even though it's a very alien setting, it has a more realistic feel than the others listed.  I'd love to take part in a game set there some time, but I'd need the right players or GM (that goes for any game, I guess).
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

I selected Tekumel, by which I mean the Empire of the Petal Throne variety.

The Good Assyrian

I voted for Tekumel.  I was introduced to it many years ago by my friend Rob and I have been hooked ever since.  There is a steep learning curve, but I have seen excellent games run for players who were not familiar with the setting (mostly of the "barbarians off the boat" variety).  I ran such a campaign in grad school and it was tons of fun!

Quote from: BalbinusI went for Talislanta, I think it's the most gameable.
Do you? Non distugustibus, or however it goes.

I've always found Glorantha highly 'gameable' myself, but apparently I'm distinctly in the minority.
