This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That's nice, but I'm fucked if I'm playing the Punani's Comintern denunciation game. If that's what you and Settembrini want you can stick it right up your arses.

I do not understand the sentence.
But be assured, I never had anything against you. You have fun with Thematic Games, and understand your fun-source. You donĀ“t have illusions about them. You see clearly.
I respect that.

You are an acceptable hostile droog...and they like you fluttering around their ears :D

I'm not hostile. This war thing is inane. The other day Settembrini used the term 'illusionism'. AM describes the reward cycle of D&D in a way that matches 100% in my understanding to the view Ron Edwards holds of it. Half the things Jim Bob 'quotes' were never said in the quoted form. Poor old Tony doesn't know which is his arse and which is his elbow. It's like some sort of university club hell!

[And Sett: the sentence means that I'm not going to apologise for anything anybody else has said. Neither will I throw a picture of Ron Edwards on the ground and trample on it.]

Yes, the war thing is inane.
Because guys like Tony behave in such ways.

@Tony: Behave like droog, and we can all live in peace alongside each other, like ships passing at night.

Yep - swhy all the stupid indie posturing is so reviled.
Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

See, the thing is, despite the fact that Droog likes what he likes (which seems like an inviolate thing- people like what they like no matter what).. he just isn't here to sell us shit or to squat in our communities in order to monitor us or act as public relations. I don't see the problem.

In any case, what I am calling for is self-assessment of whether anyone really needs to be in this hobby is they aren't actually involved in this hobby. I made this assessment myself, and after looking at it from several angles-- I'm pretty sure I game every week. Sometimes twice a week. I'm not gaming because I joined TheRPGsite. I'm on TheRPGsite because I'm gaming.

I am fairly suspicious that for a lot of people, they take part in gaming as a strictly incidental sidebar activity (perhaps running demos and playtests at cons or special gatherings only) because they need to be part of the online groups.

Those people should seriously think about whether they really need to be doing that.

Heh.  I think I get what you're saying, but it's also pretty funny in the local context, yes?

droog:  You can all kiss my well-muscled ass!
Sett:  Now see Tony, why can't you act more like droog?

What, you just mean the Forgers, or others, too?

'Cos that's something that's never struck me. Not even about the Forgers. Seemed to me they all genuinely liked gaming, even if what they'd call "gaming" seemed more like some kind of sociology experiment. "I would like to get this old guy to shoot his own son now, Bob, is that okay with you?" "Sure Jim, go for it."

So what if they are ? How does it hurt you ?

Abyssal Maw

Well, I think it hurts all of us. And I don't mean just forgies, I mean everyone. I did it myself.

Explain. I'm sincerely interested. I stopped gaming for a couple of years and during that time I participated in various online rpg forums.
