If so, is Canada just one big Greyhawk campaign?
Of course not. It's one big Forgotten Realms campaign! ;)

Well, its a fact that Calgary is a frozen shithole in winter, and a mud-soaked shithole in the summer, but it easily has one of the best gaming stores in North America.

Sentry Box?

Only know of them online, but I've dug out some great stuff from their catalogs and they've been a pleasure to deal with.

Yes, the Sentry Box. I'll never forget the first time I went in there. It was amazing.

Ilovegaming

For it's size, New York City doesn't have a lot of game stores, but The Complete Strategist is a great store (located near the Empire State Building).

There is more available gaming (role-playing, cards, board games, and 40K) than you will have time for, the exception being that there is not a lot of historical miniature gaming going on.

In addition to lots of gaming, there are a lot of small to medium sized cons, not necessarily in NYC, but nearby Long Island, NJ, and CT.  You are also not too far away from Mass./Boston, Philly, Baltimore, and DC, all places with better than average amount of gaming/gamers.

There is still a much better than average amount of gaming going on in Wisconsin and northern IL.  Milwaukee is not the gaming mecca it once was in the 1990's (the loss of Gen Con and Napoleon's game store seemed to slow things down a little), but there is still a lot of gaming going on.  Although smaller cities, for their size, the cities of Racine and Kenosha have more gaming going on than one would expect.  Rockhead's Games and Comics is an above average game store, and is located in Kenosha.  Green Bay, WI is fairly far away from Milwaukee and relatively small and isolated, but the game stores and gaming in Green Bay are great for a community it's size.  Finally, Wisconsin's capital, Madison, has three above average game stores, and with the University of Wis. located there, you will always find people to game with.

In addition to southeastern Wisconsin being well above average for gaming (especially for it's size), northern IL is also pretty good for gaming.  Besides Chicago just having gamers due to it's large population, Games Plus in Mount Prospect, IL is about as good of a game store as you will ever find.  Rockford, IL, although not a place I would live in, is not too far away from the Chicago or Milwaukee areas and has a good con...RockCon and better than average gaming for it's size.

By itself, the city of Lake Geneva doesn't have a lot of year-round gaming going on, and TSR is long gone, but Lake Geneva is an easy drive from Milwaukee, Racine/Kenosha, and Madison, all in Wisconsin and Chicago and Rockford in IL and has the BEST small (but fast becoming medium) sized game convention anywhere...Gary Con.  Even if you don't live in WI or IL, Gary Con is worth the travel.

I have not lived in Seattle or Minneapolis/St. Paul, but have spent more time there than someone normally does, having not lived there.  From my experience, they are both great gaming places.

Can anyone tell me what the gaming scene is like in southeastern NH and northern NH?  How about states like WY, ID, MT, SD, ND?  Thanks.

The Midwest in general is all around good. It's the birthplace of RPGs after all.

The Chicago area has a very large and vibrant RPG community.

The town I live (suburbs of Chicago) in has a game club that holds open gaming every Thursday evening at 7pm, free to the public. They sell snacks and soda on the premises to pay for the meeting space. They have RPGs upstairs, and board games and card games downstairs, with at least 2-3 large, regular drop-in, drop-out RPG games going.

The local meetup for my town is organized by me and we have 128 members, although most of them are also part of that game club I mentioned earlier. Chicago has several much larger meetup groups for RPGs and others for things like board games and card games.

We have several excellent game stores throughout the chicagoland area (I know of at least 4 personally EDIT: make that SIX, not including chains like Gamer's Paradise, of which we have several), including the legendary Games Plus in Mt. Prospect (games-plus.com), which has probably the largest and most ecclectic selection of RPGs, along with a sizeable miniatures selection, board games, and a very large game area with multiple tables. They also hold an auction once every few months.

We're also local to or a stone's throw from a whole slew of cons for gaming or where gaming occurs: Windycon, Rockcon, Duckcon, Capricon, GenCon, GaryCon... Any time of year, there's probably at least a small local Con going on somewhere in the area.
