This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). I'm looking for a sci-fi rpg that doesn't use the normal solar system
I want stars and planets but more sci-fi than based off of real science

What rules do I use for this?

Star Frontiers plays fairly loose with star systems. Just place them however and all that really counts is the distance and travel time getting from A to B. Planetside you can do whatever. Earth standard? Pretty common apparently. Slightly hazardous, requiring a breather or suit? Also can do.

Spelljammer is the other one. You can lay out solar systems in all sorts of ways.

d6 Star Wars - about as science fantasy as you can get.

Starfinder plays pretty fast and loose with Stars and Planets and has a lot of support as well.

er. SPI's Universe leans heavily to hard fiction for its solar system gen. And its damn good too! I use it for Star Frontiers. In fact aside from the Psi powers Universe on a whole leans heavily to the hard fiction.

Check out Seven Worlds for Savage Worlds. Looks nifty to me!

All hard sci-fi means is that you wear space helmets is all. They are optional in SPI's Universe.
