So, it appears that the Pathfinder system is being adapted to a science-fantasy setting. A whopping 560 page corebook lands in August.

I presume it'll keep all the crunch, which will be a shame, but i can't help feeling that it might be pretty cool.

I suspect it will live or die on the quality of the setting material rather than the mechanics.

It likely won't even be the most complex d20 Space Game. Traveller 20 was a sight to behold and literally managed to knock me out. I had it on a high bookshelf and as I walked by, it fell off and hit me in the head.

Stargate was pretty hefty as well (thankfully I always kept it on a lower shelf), though as a third generation Spycraft product, was mostly coherent.

This seems a lot more like Dragonstar, which I quite liked. More Fantasy than Sci-Fi

Omega

So they are doing a super glitz version of Dragonstar?

Yeah, I definitely picked up a Dragonstar meets Golarion vibe. Meh.

Well, certainly the people who complained about lack of 3e Spelljammer will finally have their wish granted.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

The setting hints at some mashup fun, but nowadays "massive 560 page rulebook" makes me flinch more than smile.

Unless it's all-inclusive, i kinda agree. Knowing Paizo, this will be anything but all-inclusive.

Look at what they did with Golarion with regards to classes and pretige classes, feats, etc.  Now give them a universe.
Even if every AP only contains one new world that has only one single new race, skill, feat, spell, and prestige class , it's a neverending supply.

This is a partial answer to 5e...not Pathfinder 2.0 but an entire new game with it's own splatmill compatible with PF 1.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Not a bad answer.  Not for me, but still, I can see this doing really well for them.

There was a thread on this a year or so ago, I think. I was really hoping that they would take the regular PATHFINDER route and release free beta versions prior to hardback release, but I haven't seen any sign of that so I'm guessing that we would have to buy the full thing to actually get a good look at it. A shame, since I'm not a big PATHFINDER fan and was more interested in the ideas than the whole shebang.

an interview

Looks to me like they are tweaking 3e yet again in order to retread the same shit they already put out.

Dead Suns Adventure Path

In the first 6-part Adventure Path for the Starfinder Roleplaying Game, the players take on the roles of members of the Starfinder Society, a loose association of scholars and adventurers who travel the galaxy uncovering the secrets of a weird universe.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the classes wind up looking like.   One thing is that the two spellcasting classes (mystic & technomancer) are only six level spellcasters like bards.  Spell levels of 7-9 still exist, but apparently they are accessed through something other than class abilities.  They haven't said yet, but I imagine through some sort of ritual practice.  Also, both classes are spontaneous casters.

560 pages?  I'm not looking to bludgeon a man to death, Paizo.  Yikes.

Actually that's 16 pages less than Pathfinder.  They put the Player's Handbook and GM's Guide in one book.
