Can somebody please read the runes and tell me what exactly "Black Creator Spotlight" means? It's a highlighted section, so it must be important to someone there. It says "100% of your purchase supports these titles for Black History Month". Judging by the titles in the list, there doesn't seem to be anything to do with black history, so I can only assume that all those titles were written by black creators. Sorry to be all cliched, but I don't ever remember buying anything because the creator was of a specific racial group. I don't really see the point of this.

If it was for "Conservative Creator Spotlight" or "Christian Creator Spotlight" would you see the point of it?

A Conservative or Christian creator implies that the creator of the work is using those works to promote an ideology that I think is healthy and historically creates good societies.

What exactly does a creator being Black imply?

I can't say I agree with that at all...

As stupid as I think these types of 'spotlights' are (for the most part). I would far welcome a 'minority' over some autocratic ideology such as, 'insert any religion here'. Just my opinion of course.

You're welcome to disagree with the viewpoint, but the point is you have some expectation on the sorts of characteristics products featured in that spotlight would have. Black creators? Not so much.

From that perspective, you're technically right.

I'm still scratching my chin as to why 'some animals are more equal than others'. Clear VS on drivethru's part, imo. But by saying that I'm now a whaaacist.  ;D

I guess by the time I'm old and dying we'll be dumb enough as a society for something like fat history month, assuming we still have months and not BEZOS units or Stardates.

You can have dystopia or dattopia but you can't have both, not at the same time.

Huh, so you believe that either someone can decide to be black (like they can conservative or Christian), or that black people all share the same basic world-view (like conservatives or Christians).  That's pretty easily the most racist thing I've seen today...

I think... I think some or all of the creators of those works are black. I know some of them are quite good. I have a hard time getting too worked up about this, but if I was a black game designer I would want to be known for my games not the color of my skin. Of course getting some free advertising isn't bad either! :)

You're almost there.

The reason people get "worked up about this" it's because it's racist. It's the white man's burden. Then we mock them by demanding ever increasing spotlights: "Where's the Maya Creator Spotlight huh!?"

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

Of course you are correct, but I just cannot spend all my time tilting at windmills. Its Black History Month. Personally I would like an entire month to celebrate the accomplishments of fat bald guys. As I said, there are so many really vile and horrible things going on... this is not the hill I am going to die on!

You know full well most posters here  would not see the point either.

I suppose Disingenuous posters have to virtue signal I guess.

This is a symptom of those vile and horrible things if not one of the same horrible vile things. Pointing it out isn't dying on any hill.

There's no need for people to be dying on hills.  :)
I haven't commented because I don't care much either. But if other people wanna poke fun at how drivethru is "celebrating" black creators, that's their business.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

What exactly does a creator being Black imply?

Just a darker skin color is all. Or all the characters have dark skin. Probably nothing about healthy societies with nuclear families, growing economies, or anything historically accurate. Think regressive.

Rob Necronomicon

This of course has nothing to do with black creators and everything to do with drivethru's virtue-signaling.

Acting like they are are all buddies with the small indie creators. It's all about the $$$$ and optics.

I am personally holding out for the Neanderthal Spotlight. That should be a pretty big list.  8)
Failing that can we at least get an Eohippus Spotlight?  :'(
