This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Only fascists have intelligence as part of their game design.

Yeah I'd heard of GRP over on BGG. Figures.

QuoteGender Repeal Party is a freeform larp about gender euphoria, the rejection of the heteronormative boxes that society places us into, and the power of queer community. It's a game of riotous emotions and powerful support networks. Over the course of an evening at a party thrown for the trans members of the local queer community, everyone will have a chance to tear up their birth certificates and repeal the gender they had been assigned and embrace their actual gender.

That said. Larps and some of the euro, and especially "nordicLARP" are not really LARPs but instead one off "Parlour Games". Stuff like you sometimes see at conventions. And can cover a really broad range of odd subjects.

A "Game/Poem". What a load of utter pretentious crap.

And of course, there's depression. They're always depressed. Maybe if they didn't spend their entire lives being such weak wastes of oxygen they might not be so depressed.

Its a by-product of a culture than doesn't promote gratitude and gratefulness.

I don't even mean from any religious or spiritual perspective. Just the regular recognizing how incredibly easy most of us have it in comparison to most of the human race throughout the world and history.

Wow looking a those game it comes off as some pretty weird shit and I do mean weird imo.

I give the author credit for trying to make money of his depression if I tried to run any of those rpgs I would be asked if I was mentally stable. Or worse clinically depressed.

Depression is a mental illness that causes a lot of problems and can blight lives.

But, I suppose it's fine to make fun of that here.

It's possible to have empathy for those who suffer from depression, while calling out efforts to remake social norms around the pathologies of those who suffer from depression. Or more bluntly, just because someone seems to suffer from depression doesn't mean they can't also be an asshole.

Some of us have Depression and yet don't seek to make it the centre of our Universe - and especially not other people's Universes! You always have a choice. I chose to get out of bed today - four times. :D

Hear hear. I always tell my Depressed students "It's very common, don't feel bad about feeling bad" - since Depression tends to lead to a vicious cycle of self loathing. But focusing on your Depression and wielding it like a cudgel is certainly being an asshole - and if you do that, you should feel bad.

As someone who's had serious depression leading to homelessness and bringing me close to suicide: yes, you can make fun of it.

Part of many problems people have in their lives with their mental health and relationships come from taking themselves far, far too seriously. Mockery and laughter puts your problems in their place.

It's also appropriate to point out that people who sit around at home on their keyboards spouting off nonsense tend not to be happy and well-balanced individuals, whether what they spout is white supremacist drivel on 8chan, or SJW drivel on tumblr. We tend to assume the poor mental health and relationships come first, and the sitting around on your keyboard comes as a result; but the effect may become a cause.

"I had depression, and I sat around on the keyboard at home spouting political stuff, and as a result became a happy and well-balanced individual, 8chan/tumblr brought emotional riches to my life!" is a story nobody has ever told.

Thus the old D&D ad, which is even more apposite a decade on with everyone glued to their mobile phones etc. Get out and game with people in person and, while it obviously won't cure mental health and relationship issues, it will help a bit.
