SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Coffee Stop & Game Shop

I was wondering if there was a place for my shop to put RPG Location and business hours. If not thats ok. I was just wondering. I have a New Game Shop in N. Alabama. Thanks

Events are in one of these post in this thread.

Bagpuss

I've not seen one, but I wouldn't mind seeing a directory of RPG shops myself.

I suppose if you run any regular events (like a gaming night) at the shop it could go in under events.

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe we could link to a Google Map with all of the game shops flagged.

Oh, and hey, where's your game shop?

I live in Mississippi and have friends in Alabama.

Coffee Stop & Game Shop

I will post here, once I find out if it's allowed. For now We can be found at meetup.com under < Birmingham Gamming Meetup Group >

RPGPundit

Well, you already sort of DID post here. But, luckily for you, this is allowed as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Go ahead and post your details, on this thread.

I would suggest using the Events page and registering all the events you will be running @ the store. Also encourage your customers to post any public games they will running @ the store here. Then people can do a search on the events page and find your events @ the store.

Coffee Stop & Game Shop

I will get a list of our RPG events and post them with the shop hours and address. This shop is only for RPG & TCG events and products only. Sorry no comics or crap that you have to weave through to get to a small area to play. This shop is full of tables and chairs just for game play. We hope to be the largest event center and will try to hold large events as well. We are growing fast and hope to be able to seat 150+ players at one time by late spring. We now seat 45 and could still ride a bicycle around the shop. I have put this shop together for the players and trying to get the most experienced Organizers to run events. I will post later tonight or as soon as I get the RPG event list from my RPG organizer.

Setting up a special forum for game stores and store-supported events would not be a terrible idea.

Supporting brick-and-mortar RPG shops is important to the well-being of our hobby, IMO.

I'm not sure I agree, but its becoming apparent that as this site grows there is more and more of a need for a forum dedicated to "advertising".   We'll see.

yeah, I think we are getting to the point where a new forum for adds  would be good.

Settembrini

"Nay!" for advertisorial Forae!

I never read them.

Put it just right into the general category, I´d say. Elsewise people don´t read the ads.

A warning in the title ought be enough to safe me from "FLGS opening in Springfield, XX anouncements" that I don´t care about.

Settembrini is probably right. Experience shows that an Ad forum is largely ignored by most people.

I must unilaterally state my abhorrence of the idea of allowing advertising on the normal forum.

We could just make a sticky thread up top for game store info, much like was done with the pimp your book thread that's there now.  That seems like a nice compromise to me.  that way they aren't ghettoized into their own forum that no one reads, but it won't have the potential to flood the regular discussion out.

Pimp Your Game Store and Events.  Sounds like it has my vote.
