This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

One RPG you've never played, but you'd like to?

You've seen my shelves. There are just too, too many to name.

Quote from: Idinsinuation;267334Cthulhutech but I'm changing that tonight.  So once tonight's game session is over it'll be Edge of Midnight again.
Cthulhutech is a setting that interests me, but not the system.  It's something I'm working on doing with either BRP or Nemesis.

The one game that I've never had enough people seated in one room to get off the ground for more than the briefest of sessions is...and I realise that I may take shit over this...Nobilis.  No, really, I want to play in an extended campaign as a player-character, not the GM (though I have some nifty ideas for a campaign as GM).

I have the same problem with Cthulhutech. Is it me, or is that a concept that would have been perfect for the Palladium system?

For me, although I ran a Gurps Discworld game many years ago, I've never played Gurps 4 and I'd really like to :D

Ringworld

Got the books, just never had enough Niven fans together who were interested in playing.
"Meh."

Aos

Yeah, Ringworld sounds good to me, too.I love the idea of sailing across the giant ocean with the 1:1 scale maps, or trying to cross form one side of the ring to other. I want a flashlight lazer!

There's a lot I've not played, but if I had to choose just one I guess I have no idea. My wants change from day to day, with my moods. I'm going to have to really think on this one.

High Fantasy - seriously, with the right group this could be fun for a session or two.

Traveller 5 - hmmm...yes, actually I do have sufficient playtest notes to do this but if people started leaking to the internet Marc'd be pissed.

InNomine - this would be fun with the right group and the right attitude.  Religion being what it is in these parts I have yet to see the group that could do it.

Holy crap, yes.  That game has become so academic to my mind that I never seriously consider playing it anymore.  I'd be tempted to play in the broader "Known Space" rather than just on the Ringworld itself.

[Edit: Whoops.]

Ringworld would be cool.  Let me also add Talislanta to that list.

EDIT:  And Spacemaster.

SAVAGE WORLDS - I have the books, but thats one I'd love to just 'be a player' for once.

HUNTER/new WORLD of DARKNESS - I want to play a "good guy" tht hunts monsters...with a group of allies. Got NO interest in GM-ing this - but as a player I'd like to try that angle and setting.

GURPS - I never get to just play, I'm always GM-ing.  If I could find someone who has a GM-style similar to mine Id'd be very happy to be a player in his or her game.

This is what a really cool FANTASY RPG should be like :

at the moment i'd be glad to play pretty much anything, if i could just find a group near me who actually plays rpg's and not those bloody warhammer wargames! :(

Indeed, I played it a bit sometime in the 70's, and it was if nothing else mechanically a good deal of fun. How exactly I couldn't say, I just remember enjoying it and liking how the system worked out in practice for your basic dungeon-bash. Once I read it, I was also impressed with the streamlined rules for higher-level character development.

But since I did play it, it's not a candidate for me, in this thread. Now, Fantasy Wargaming....
