This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I think others have covered it well. Rather than accepting it is what it is, and updating that for modern modes of technology. It took some ideas from better games/works, and mashed them into its own thing. While that could have been brilliant, it ended up being just what it is, poorly received attempt to latch on to the new SF tropes, without discarding the old.

For a bet "Cyberpunk" game, see Shadowrun 4E (seriously, sure it has magic, and other stuff, but it gets what is GOOD and fun about cyberpunk still.)

I went back to Cyberpunk 2020 for good cyberpunk.  Shadowrun just never did it for me

Sfun and clever.

It took 2 pages before you came in and trolled the thread.  You are showing restraint.

I've found I'm happier if I try to ignore the arch conservative narrow minded fuckwits on the internet.

Go watch sme Vexille and think about what really goes on in games, then come back and apologise.
Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

You mean ignore the comments of people who have, unlike you have read the game and know its crap (with 99% of the reviews saying the same thing

I know what really going on in games, and that has nothing to do wth the topic at hand.  Nice try though

Is this just parroting what you've seen others post on the 'net?  Or did you actually bother to read the book before commenting this time, you witless clownshoe?

No wonder people beat you up for fun.

I bought the game when it first came out.  My thoughts were that I have never seen that many good ideas slapped right up against that many bad ideas.  Seriously one page would have me thinking that is way cool and the next I'm rolling my eyes wondering what the hell.

You could kind of see where he was going for.  A sort of transitional period between cyberpunk and transhumanism.  But by putting that all on top of the old setting and trying to make it all link together it didn't work.  He should have either updated the setting without so many radical changes all crammed in there or just dumped the old setting and start anew.

Didn't get to try the system though.  Never really sat down and went that deep into it.  Although the way he came up with keeping track of orginizations was neat (don't remember what he called it) I didn't put it into practice.

So I went the way a lot of other folks did.  Back to an earlier edition for my cyberpunk fix.
Truly Rural dot com my own little hole on the web.

RPG Haven choice.
